Brian Wilson

Post by Sara D »

If you grew up in the 60s it was impossible not to be excited and moved by the records of the Beach Boys and the songs of Brian Wilson, whose death yesterday I only found out about this morning. Thanks to my elder sister being a big fan of the group at the time I got to hear a lot from the albums 'Pet Sounds', 'Surf's Up' and 'Holland' and from the last named I remember 'Sail On, Sailor' being a particular favourite, a song that in the circumstances I'm relieved to see Brian Wilson at least had a hand in composing.

A song Brian co-wrote with Burt and Tonio K in 2007...

Another musical Giant has left us... R.I.P. Brian.

A summer party or barbecue would be unthinkable without the hits of the Beach Boys and I'll always associate their music with good times, cue a personal favourite written by Brian Wilson and brother Carl.

A pre-mortem tribute from John Cale (who is not responsible for the nostalgic video portion):
