Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

I'd forgotten how haunting the guitar riff is in Blue Guitar, an early Bacharach & David obscurity and the A-side of Richard Chamberlain's original recording of Close To You. I say 'obscurity' but I see that it peaked just outside Billboard's Top 40 in 1963. I see also that it features a Bachar...

Re: What The World Needs Now: The Burt Bacharach Songbook In Concert

Checking the setlist for the LA show published in setlist.fm it corroborated the list in the Variety review and so it seems that the inclusion of 'You Don't Have To Say You Love Me' wasn't an error and it was indeed performed in the show. The inclusion of a non-Bacharach song in a tribute show to t...

Re: What The World Needs Now: The Burt Bacharach Songbook In Concert

Well, the clips indicate that everyone acquitted themselves well enough (although I still think Todd should hang it up), but a program "deep in the catalog" it certainly wasn`t. Maybe it was revelatory for newcomers to Burt`s music, but for the rest of us, I think the Variety reviewer`s r...

Re: What The World Needs Now: The Burt Bacharach Songbook In Concert

Here's a review of the show in LA and it's surprising just how many songs Todd Rundgren gets to perform, including two or three I just wouldn't have expected. https://variety.com/2025/music/concert-reviews/burt-bacharach-songbook-tribute-tour-review-todd-rundgren-1236347936/ Paul, thanks for postin...

Hi, I'm on the forum and am happy to chat about the show or answer some questions. I hope you all are well... Rob (Shrock) Shirakbari Hi Rob, welcome to the forum, just a couple of questions, will your show be touring the UK and will Todd and Kasim be taking part if it is ? And what is the playlist...

Re: Jerry Butler 1939-2025

Paul,
Thanks for posting those two wonderful tracks, yes the "Bacharach Sound" was slowly evolving and would reach full fruition very shortly with the emergence of Dionne Warwick.
The rest as they say.... is history.

Re: Jimmy Webb performing on TV in 1968 (And other Webb-related topics)

Make what you will of this extract from an interview JW gave earlier this week. As an incurably grumpy old man who has read this too many times over the past thirty- how-many-years now? , I just groaned: Part of what may come out in the coming year for Webb is new music and a sequel to “The Cake an...
