Check out this recent performance in Las Vegas: Dionne's voice will never stretch into the stratosphere again, but she sure is getting her breath control back in a big way! I wonder if she really has quit the cigarettes.
I'm ashamed to say that it wasn't very long ago that I was hoping for Dionne to retire quietly because I felt that she was harming her legacy with so many rough performances, but these recent appearances are making me rethink my position because she is consistently sounding better. I'll take occasional appearances of this quality from here on out over not hearing her at all. Declaring bankruptcy and curtailing her touring were the best decisions Dionne could have made at this point in her life. Go Dionne!
