For Linda Ronstadt fans, the latest edition of "Record Collector" magazine (December 2013) has an informative and a very moving interview with her. Quoting Ms. Ronstadt: "At the height of my ability, I think I could have sung "I Stil Have That Other Girl" really well. I'd recorded "Anyone Who Had A Heart" and got a really nice letter from Burt saying he loved the way I sang it. It was really nice." Then the interviewer asks her if there is a song that got away, one she wished she had recorded and she mentions that same Bacharach & Costello song, "I Still Have That Other Girl".
That we won't hear her interpretation of that collaboration, it's heartbreaking, that her singing voice is silenced, it's truly our loss.
