Vincent,

How accurate is this Dionne tour listing? Right now the Sydney Opera House has no information on any November concert neither has any other Sydney venue. The Queensland Performing Arts Centre does however list the 29 November concert for Brisbane.

A shame really as it is ten years since I last saw her here. Unfortunately I missed her 2004 tour . . . . .

:D Bonjour Steve L;

I got Dionne schedule from someone who is very close to her!

It's hard to imagine, that Dionne would travel 1/2 way around the world to do a concert in one city!

Things happen, where shows never come about.

Last year I saw Dionne @ Lincoln Center in New York city in November 2006.

I ran into Dionne's Manger Henry, and he told me, "Dionne & Burt may play @ Carnegie Hall in the spring of 2007!" That show never happen!

Burt had a very, very bad year as we all know!

Steve L, if you notice @ the bottom of the page, it indicated that the Schedule could change.

I do hope Dionne does comes to your part of the world! 8)
Take care;

Thanks Vincent,

Yes, Dionne certainly seems to be touring this part of the world next month and when I saw your post I got very excited at the prospect of seeing her in Sydney again. Maybe the Sydney Opera House will make a late announcement as the concert hall appears to be free that evening and they would have no problem filling it for a Dionne concert.

Having seen Burt there in July and having booked to see him again when he visits in January I really have no cause to complain and, as you say, the Dionne schedule is subject to change anyway.

Thanks for your input.

Thanks for posting that Vincent.

Did anyone see her on the Today show? What song(s) did she sing? How was her voice?

Well I did see Dionne at the Sydney Opera House on 28 November. And what a disappointment. In a performance lasting scarcely seventy five minutes she rehashed a performance she gave in Sydney ten years ago complete with the "Brazilian" theme. A few Bacharach songs however were performed to very non-Bacharach arrangements which made them sound decidedly "off".

The worst aspect of the show was attrocious sound. Clearly something was very wrong as technicians dived around behind the band at various times trying to improve things.

Maybe the get in, get out nature of this tour leaves little time for proper setup hence the technical problems. There were no encores given and I trully believe the audience left very disappointed. It really seemed a case of take the money and run.

As a devoted Dionne fan for over forty years, this is not how I wish to remember the great lady.

This strikes an earlier chord with me - I saw her at Hackney (a not-so-salubrious area of London) Empire in 2006 and it was all a bit sad. Her son sang some of the worst songs I've ever heard.
