Bonjour Blue;

Thanks for the segment of Burt & Tom!

I have this on VHS. One day I have to convert the old tape to DVD and send you a copy!

It might be on the 1971 CBS Special with Barbara. I have to check my archives.

Take care mon ami.

Surreal? How about this? (Jones' and Duncan's delivery is a little stilted, but the arrangement clearly has the maestro's fingerprints and he himself makes a bizarre cameo as a band leader conducting a Sousa-styled march of 'Alfie' near the end.)

For over 40 years I've only known 'As Long as There's an Apple Tree' through Dionne Warwick's sublime recording, so it comes as a bit of a shock to hear it by someone else, namely the 5th Dimension. The lead vocals are shared by the two female singers and it's pretty much what you'd expect from them. I believe this was originally an out-take from the 'Soul and Inspiration' album and was bunged on the re-issue a few years ago, something that passed me by.

Interesting! Love the Fifth Dimension but literally hate this. Bears little resemblance to the Warwick-Bacharach original......and speaking of original, they stripped that out of this version too. Bones Howe did justice to One Less Bell to Answer but not this. Makes me long to get up and go listen to the incredible original by Dionne. There is a reason why this was probably buried for so long...it should have remained buried! LOL! Just sayin'!!!

Hello all,
Just though I'd share the latest demo clip in my Dionne Tribute series "A Journey Through Dionne's Discography".
"Let Me Be Lonely" from her '68 'Valley of the Dolls' album...

Dionne sang really hard and strong on this one and it was pure hell to get through this hidden gem!

I'll have to listen to the 5th Dimension's 'As long as There's an Apple Tree." I had no idea anyone else covered it. Thanks for the heads up guys!

Another argument supporting the case that BJ Thomas is the best MALE interpreter of Bacharach/David!

Definitely! I agree 100%. And I'll bet that Burt and Hal knew it, too.

Another duet with Warwick & Thomas - "They Don't Give Medals To Yesterday's Heroes" - is one of the bonus tracks on Dionne's ... "VERY DIONNE" ... expanded version CD released by Rhino Records.
