Another Strange, but fun clip from the golden 60's

Post by steveo_1965 »

Here we go folks, another strange little clip from te mid 60's...
I'm not really sure what show it's from, but probably Hullabaloo.
Here we have a segent called "Burt Bacharach's Top Pop"....
and it's a production number featuring several of Burt's tunes..
The clip starts off with the ending of MAgic Moments...and
segues into the last song What's New Pussycat...
performers cheezing it up are Joannie Sommers, The Dave Clark 5,
The Cyrkle, Lola Falana, and another young lady you'll recognize...lol

The arrangement is schmaltzy, but fun....

"Burt Bacharach's Top Pop"... again, as if the lyric writer didn't exist. If that's the case, then they should just hum the music.

Wow, Blue!
Incredible clip! Thanks for posting! :D
I love the fact that as they are a 3 man group...they blow off having a bass player for lip syncing performances..(both singing Walker bros. are playing 6 string guitars)..it looks like the one on the right is playing a Fender Stratocaster...
The sound of the record is a blob! glassy and etherial, everything is buried in echo, but I love it..its dreamlike..
I also don't remember the key pitch of the song being so high....but it is!

Heres more of Scott, John, and Gary doing a record with a "blockbuster"
spector styled sound(I think Jack Nitzschie involvement)
Scott has an incredible voice on these records...From 1966 Japanese TV.

SPECTOR SOUND !!!!

Post by blueonblue »

Hi Steveo,
Wonderful clip !!!
You mentioned the Spector "Wall Of Sound" style, the Walker Brothers
did a terrific version of Bacharach and David's "Another Tear Falls"
incorporating that very sound !!!
Here's another track that's very heavily "influenced" by Spector with
Miss Jackie DeShannon, and castanet's a-plenty...Awesome stuff !!!
