awesome piece of music BB could have written too

Sorry as this is off topic.

But everytime i hear this piece of instrumental
by Francis Lai, i just cannot help myself from
marvelling at its beauty.
The chord structure is so similar to some of BB's
more jazzy songs.

Here's the clip:

Thanks. I agree - a lovely piece. And that movie looks great too. The French know romance ! I wish we had more posts referencing other great music - with whatever link to Burt.

Hank:
The subject of "referencing other great music" was in fact addressed in this forum a year or two ago. As I recall - a number of great songs were identified as containing certain Bacharach like elements or qualities. For starters I suggest listening to a song entitled "GETTING IN MY WAY" written by Jerry Ragovoy & Jacob Brockman and recorded by Dionne Warwick in 1974. It appears as the final track on her 1975 album "Then Came You". As of last week - a live video version taped in the 70's was on "youtube.com" Check it out and perhaps we can resurrect this topic!

yes, the bacharach similar artists discussion has been brought up
here every now and then, and most agreed Jimmy Webb (who admitted
himself that his early influences was BB) work are nearly as good.

Now that i'm talking about JW, i cannot bringing up an English singer/songwriter from Worcester, Midlands,
Clifford T Ward ( I would call him the "English Jimmy Webb")

Here's a typical song of his (and the piano intro, by the way, is
very much in the same mood as that Bobby Vinton's Charlie)
which i put up on YOUTUBE with some awesome photos of Holland ...
