Nikki's song

Post by vbond0071 »

Wasn't the song created for Burt's daughter Nikki also theme music used for one of the 3 networks back in the late 60's or early 70's? I am almost positive the music was used for a television show or as theme music for a movie of the week??? If someone can tell me...here is an email you can write me...thanks- Vin vbond0071@aol.com

A Big Thank You! I was unaware of this and have always loved "NIKKI" ...... Brought to mind one of my all time favorite television program themes "Mystery Movie Theme" by Henry Mancini. ... It's on "youtube" .... Hopefully this link will work - otherwise just go to "youtube" and enter Mystery Movie Theme Henry Mancini. ... Give it a listen!

Dear Earthbound1975,

Here's the lyrics - "Nikki" (Bacharach/David)

Somewhere there is sunshine.
Somewhere days are warm.
Somewhere there's a happy harbor
far from the storm.
Out where the sun shines there is someone
I'm meant to adore,
and I know the day I find her,
I'll smile once more.

Nikki, it's you.
Nikki, where can you be?
It's you, no one but you for me
I've been so lonely since you went away.
I won't spend a happy day
'til you're back in my arms.

For ev'ry dream there is a dreamer,
and when dreams are gone,
for each wish
another star shines to wish up on.
Take all my dreams and all my wishes
Hold them in your heart.
Tell me soon we'll be together,
never to part.

Nikki, it's you.
Nikki, where can you be?
It's you, no one but you for me
I've been so lonely since you went away.
I won't spend a happy day
'til you're back in my arms.

Don't make me wait here in the shadows
till my life is done.
I can't live without the sunshine,
you are the sun.

Oh Nikki, it's you.

Ed Ames had a great vocal version of it(I wonder if there were any others-(there probably were)

I think Ed Ames did the only vocal version of "Nikki" and here http://youtu.be/T6c0EWGluqw is an even rarer version than the official RCA recording.

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a different version of Nikki than the 1966 one. I heard it years ago, and I loved it. It has synthesizers in it, as well as stronger drums than in the classic version. It sounds like it was made in the 70's. If anyone could help me with this that'd be great.
I'd love to buy this version, and find out if it's part of an album that has a similar sound.

He's a great guitarist, famous for his distinctive sound. I really like his 'Airport' album, with 'Nikki' on it.

The lyrics were the perfect way to express a confession of love.
Very affectionate, warm, and caring lyrics
I read the lyrics before listening to the musical composition, and like all the songs that Mr. Bacharach and Mr. David created together, it was poetry. It will be put with my favorite poems to read again and again.
The lyrics were so unique, emotionally gentle and persuasive at the same time.

I just love the beautiful verses to this song by Mr. Bacharach.
example:
Take all my dreams and all my wishes
Hold them in your heart.

I can't live without the sunshine,
you are the sun.

Thank you very much
Respectfully,
Annah
