Who else interprets this song? any other males? i would like to hear a good baritone singer on this one as the one on the promises, promises cast recording leaves a little to be desired.

Click on the links page and go to the Hitmaker Archive. They list about 5 or 6 other artists who covered the song.

Strongly disagree that Edward Winter's version in the original cast recording leaves something to be desired. Think he perfectly captured the character's angst, hurt and confusion that "Wanting Things" was meant to elicit. Qualifies as my favorite version.

In the Reprise version of "Promises Promises", I was pleasantly surprised to hear an excellent version by Alan Thicke. Don't know if he ever recorded it.

Maybe this goes without saying but there's also Burt's own instrumental (plus background vocals) in "Make it Easy on Yourself". My favorite, by the way.
