Neil Simon 1927 - 2018

Anyone who has seen a production of Promises, Promises will know just how brilliantly funny Neil Simon's book is.

'Seconds' is my personal favourite post-60s Bacharach song and it's a shame that it appears to be his one and only collaboration with Neil Simon. As for recordings of the song, I much prefer the version found on Bacharach's 'Futures' album featuring Joshie Armstead posted by Blue in this thread to Gladys Knight's original.

Neil Simon also wrote the (excellent) lyrics for "And Then He Walked Right Through the Door." Like "Seconds," it was originally intended for a proposed film adaptation of PROMISES, PROMISES. Dionne Warwick's long-unreleased recording was finally made available in 2013 on Dionne's WE NEED TO GO BACK: THE UNISSUED WARNER BROS. MASTERS from Real Gone Music.

Thanks for the info, nymusicalsguy, and I really believe we need to go back.

Too sad.
Great loss for music.
