Bacharach in the U.K. 2018

We may not have seen Bacharach in concert in the UK during 2017 but here in London we were graced with two terrific fringe theatre productions featuring his music, a revival of Promises, Promises at the Southwark Playhouse at the start of the year and the UK premiere of Some Lovers at The Other Place in August. As Bacharach didn't allow a fuss to be made of his 70th and 80th birthdays I can't imagine a change of attitude is likely for his 90th this year. However, we can only hope that this doesn't hinder the possibility of him coming over for some concerts in the summer.

We can but hope. We'd got so used to the annual concerts that it felt really strange not to have him over last year.

I see that singer/actress Lauren Samuels has her own (with guests) 90th birthday tribute to Bacharach at Crazy Coqs, Zedel Brasserie, London on the 12th and 13th of May.

I've been there a couple of times to see the brilliant Barb Jungr and it's a nice intimate venue. Assuming the great man himself isn't over here that weekend, I might go along to one of those shows although I can't say I know anything about the lady.

Apologies for the short notice but I've only just discovered this 'Back To Bacharach' show on tonight (Friday the 26th) at the Richmond Theatre, West London.

I could have gone as Richmond is only 20 minutes from me but even though I've received good reports on this show which has been touring up and down the country for some time now, their song choices are just too predictable with not even a hint of the rare and intriguing.
