She was on CBS This Morning last Sunday morning and she trashed Burt. I was astounded, shocked and very disappointed. God only knows what bleepin' words came out of Burt's mouth when he heard it -- as I know they came out of mine. I'll see if I can find it on youtube and post it here.

Did I just watch the same interview that everyone else saw? I heard nothing astounding, shocking, or disappointing and certainly nothing that would cause Burt to explode with obscenities. She said that he left her (rather than vice versa) and that their marriage didn`t reflect celebrity glamour propaganda. Nothing revelatory or scandalous there. I haven`t read her book and don`t plan to do so. Maybe there`s real "trash" in its pages, but none was on display in the clip I saw.

Let me chime into this discussion. I am not Perry Mason and I am not defending Burt or Carole. But why did Carole wait until 25 years after their marriage ended to bring these revelations to light in her memoirs?!

I am sure Carole has very hurtful feeling about their marriage. But there are certain things you keep private or tell close friends. Also Carole did not walk into this marriage with blinders on! No doubt she knew about Burt’s reputation with the ladies.

What about Carole and Burt in a rare joint concert for a LACMA fundraising event September 21, 2013? Carole indicated that even though they were no longer married, she considered him a friend. Friends do this to each other? Or what about pouring salt into the wound and telling Burt she would send over a copy for him to read!

Yes “the whole world is a stage” to put our thoughts into stone!

Let’s not forget about Christopher, Oliver and Raleigh and how they must feel about their father! Yes, more than 2 people lives are involved when skeletons are let out of the closet!
Take care;

Vincent

Vincent you are right about this!
Very, very strange that she talk in public/ book about her marriage with Burt.
Why did she stay that long with Burt, if the marriage wasn`t going to work?
It`s very easy to throw with mud!
And every relationship or marriage has their own situations but dont do it in public!
Burt once said, that he had three marriages with ladies out of the "industry" he was working and now he is happy married for more than twenty years with the same lady (Jane)!
So why does Carole want to hurt Burt now?
And as what you wrote, what about Cristopher, Oliver and Raleigh?
But what about Jane?
For me nothing will change about Burt, i love like his music and he will always be my music hero!
Burt has a respectfull age now, and when Burt was younger, hey......
Marlene Dietrich said once to Burt, you never ever should be married!

Kind Regards,

Marcel

Marcel, I see we have the same viewpoint! I watched the Sunday Morning program a few times and notice this about Carole. When the Interviewer pressed Carole a few time on Burt being a narcissist, it seem that Carole was very uncomfortable. In my view she might have been saying in her mind, what the, H E double hockey sticks was I thinking to write this and other items about their relationship in her memoirs!

As the saying goes, “Those Who Live In Glass Houses Should Not Throw Stones”! Also I would like to quote from the Epistle of the book of Matthew, “Those With Out Sin Cast the 1st Stone”.

Yes Burt has been married 4 times. What about Carole? Andrew Sager, Marvin Hamlisch and her current husband Robert Daily. It seem like both Burt & Carole have finally found marital happiness after 4 tries!

Carole should be very elated in her music accomplishments and finally finding love!!

Just an aside: In my judgment, I don’t think Burt will comment on the harsh criticism that Carole said about him!

In addition, I am sure Burt’s 1st wife Paula Stewart and 2nd wife Angie Dickinson could sling some mud. But after all these years they are silent! I truly respect them for that!

Marcel I have the same sentiments as you do! I still love Burt’s music and will continue to go to his concerts (going on my 5th decade)!!!
Take care;

Vincent
