It has more than once struck me that, after the Bacharach/David meltdown, Dionne didn`t make herself available to Jimmy Webb (or vice-versa). Once Burt refused to honor his contract with her and Warners, she was no longer bound by any exclusivity clause with BlueJac. If, instead of delivering herself to Arista and Barry Manilow, she had recorded something like these:

she may not have become an irrelevant bore. Imagine what Dionne could have done with these in her prime.
