I know next to nothing about Jobim. Any suggestions where I should go for more like this ?

'Antonio Carlos Jobim's Finest Hour' is a good compilation of his famous compositions featuring the man himself along with the likes of Astrud Gilberto, Stan Getz and Elis Regina. '

A Twist of Jobim' features mainly jazz musicians interpreting his better known songs and includes my personal favourite version of 'The Waters of March' sung by Oleta Adams and Al Jarreau.

Of course, there`s also Jorge Ben, Caetano Veloso, Milton Nasciemento, and too many others with which to clog up this post.
YouTube should do the trick.
Meanwhile, here`s an unexpected hit from around 1970 (at least on NYC radio):

Linking two forum topics, here's Elis Regina with Toots Thielemans performing the Jobim classic 'Wave':

Dear Hank,

The original name of this song is "Chovendo na Roseira" (Raining in Rosebush) and one of the beautiful interpretations is by Oscar Peterson in the album "In Tune" released in 1971 interestingly with the name of "Childrens Game" (track 03):

Another beautiful interpretation is by promising brazilian band "Toccata - Jazz Quartet":

Let's not forget Ivan Lins https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XyqSZvg4XAM

Burt's music is smooth and sophisticated and has a link to Brazil through Darius Milhaud (I do go on a lot about him) who consciously used Brazilian folk songs in his compositions. So Brazilian music has a soul mate in Burt, and he is enormously popular down there.

Yes, that Jobim had some influence on Bacharach there is no doubt. I suppose 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart' is the most obvious example and the Sergio Mendes recording of the tune, especially the piano part, is very much in the style of Jobim.

I would go as far as saying there would be no "brill building sound" as we know it without Brazilian music. I think most of the major writers seemed to have been very aware of what was in essence bossa nova in sao paolo. Of course this is just my educated theory as I was not alive back then but it seemed they did it first and did it well.

Dear Hank,
Two collaborations: Andy Williams and Antonio Carlos Jobim (on guitar), from Andy's album, "The Shadow of Your Smile"
"How Insensative" and "Meditation":

https://youtu.be/keYoPpz_8EM

Then, Andy's ex, Claudine Longet, arranged by the late, great Nick de Caro, same two songs ("Meditation" is first, though):

https://youtu.be/WQsKYnKzlIA

Ms. Longet has stated that, of all her recorded material, she enjoyed recording Mr. Jobim's compositions the most.
