Toots Thielemans passed away on August 22, 2016 in Brussels. A career that spanned many decades and styles of music, he accompanied a who's who of artists and appeared on many soundtracks, including this score from John Barry, "Midnight Cowboy" (1969):

Did he ever accompany Burt Bacharach on any recordings??

As far as I know, he did not.
We also lost Bobby Hutcherson last week. He seemingly appeared on every `60s Blue Note album ever released. I saw him several years ago at the Vanguard, which - despite the terrible sight-lines- is still the best jazz club in New York.

We are very sad. It´s an irreparable loss to the music.
There's not much else to say.
His musical art will never be forgotten.

I used to have an LP by Toots Thielemans which featured him playing guitar and whistling. It included his most famous composition, 'Bluesette'. By all accounts he was a truly lovely chap.

Believe it or not, the John Williams score for this picture has never been 'commercially' released ?
