Addendum to the Below on JW

Post by Blair N. Cummings »

The tide of popular music taste had turned so fast that a mere five years after some of JW`s most successful work with Glen Campbell, an album called Reunion (now in a greatly recommended expanded edition: http://www.amazon.com/1974-88-Reunited- ... n+campbell ) was released to universal dismissal. How could that have been? The quality of the songs was undiminished, but nary a one got a moment`s airplay. If that could happen 42 years ago, what chance would a great new JW song - or album - have now?
For those who came in late, here`s a taste of what was utterly ignored: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wztK5mKcxSA

The reviews of the original 'Reunion' album I remember from the time of its release in 1974 compared it unfavourably with the classic Campbell/Webb hits of the late 60s. My attitude then and now is that it's difficult to knock an album which is full of (mostly) good songs, beautifully sung and arranged. Here's a link to a performance by Campbell at the BBC of 'You Might as well Smile'.
