Hi all,

This morning (Thu 24 Sep) Burt spoke with Australian journalist and TV host Virginia Trioli (who is clearly a fan) ahead of his forthcoming tour Down Under in November.

I hope this link works regardless of location.

After a disappointing introduction - Burt never worked "with" the Beatles or Frank Sinatra - this became interesting.
I was pleased that he gave due credit to Dionne again. Yet, he re-iterated his position (and not his alone) that the record business no longer exists and that he is no longer interested in making recordings. Even more disappointing was his faith that these musicals he has been developing will somehow see (or be heard) in the light of day. If I had money to wager, I`d bet it all that none of them will and that only a future Michael Feinstein figure will bring these songs to a public to which I will no longer belong.

Honest and articulate responses to the questions asked of Burt. .... Pleased to hear him acknowledge Dionne's role in affording him the opportunity to take chances and develop his inimitable style of composing. ......... Although Burt is not inclined to focus on a single artist project for the reasons he cited ...... I remain optimistic that a worthwhile Broadway Soundtrack as a result of his work with Elvis Costello remains a possibility.

Yeah, but Ron, we`ve already heard these songs - nearly twenty years ago!
Maybe it`s just time to acknowledge that this music era is over, be glad that we were there to experience it, and just quietly let it go.

You're welcome Vincent!

Certainly I hope to head along to one of Burt's shows while he's here.

I need to try and close in on your record for attendance!

Bonjour Martyn;

Make sure that you write a review of the show that you are going to attend!

By the way I have lost count on the number of Burt Concerts I have attended. Each one seems freshing to me.

Martyn, are you still teaching in the Middle East?

Take care mon ami.
