Proximity dictated the musicians Burt would use, so because it was a west coast session, It
is higly unlikely that Reg Guest would be appearing on that session...since he is/was from
G. Britain.

well I see your point steveo but burt spent some time in the UK at that time
he might have done some sessions here and mixed the material

or even I can say mr guest was around in the states...people did fly  the fact as you say he is from GB does not mean too much to me for my search ...

I don't think reach out is a live session album , right? so I can assume he might have mixed sessions taken from every place

Reach-Out,
To quote an old tv commercial jingle here in the states...(Burger King)
"have it your way.....have it your way...." ;)
Lets see, we got Herb Alpert on trumpet, Stan Getz or Reg Guest on sax...
and Dominic Spera on trumpet...

Well,
you might be right...sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.....
I am opting for the possibility of Warren Luening being one of the brass players..after doing some research, it seems he was active on the Hollywood scene at least from 1958...
He, as a young man, played on the Lawrence Welk show(a big band on tv) from 1958 to 1960.
There are clips on youtube of him playing in this orchestra and being featured... and so my vote for one of the possible trumpet players goes to Mr .Luening on the 1967 A&M album "Reach Out"

I wrote this so far:

Tra i papabili trombettisti che presero parte alle sessions dell’album circolano i nomi giganti di Dominic Spera ,Warren Leuning, Marvin Stamm. Aggiungerei anche Herb Alpert e la sua tromba già usata per la colonna sonora del film Casino royale. Probabile anche la partecipazione della zia di Dionne Warwich Cissy Houston (madre di Whitney Houston) come vocalist.

which means in few words: as possible popes on trumpet we guess Spera, Leuning and Stamm

besides, I still have a feeling that Alpert could have done some job

Cissy Houston as vocalist

Reach Out,

Is the the end of the line for this thread, or are you doing more research on this subject?
Do you plan to continue your "trek" for the mystery players?

I think the monograph is nearly finished...I did an historical introduction to present Bacharach and after the detailed album analysis...
I' m quite happy as it is , I doubt I can get more infos about the players so it will come out soonish on the Italian webzine "ondarock" in the section "pietre miliari" (milestones)
