From what I gather the singers listed at the end of this post were competing among themselves in a "Best New Talent" (or the like -- someone correct me if I'm wrong) competion, and Arisa won the 1st prize. (Arisa:

My understanding is also that this was originally a festival about compositions more than about performers (Wikipedia). Has this really changed and become more about performers? If so, how could Karima lose to Arisa?

Or was it the case that Come In Ogni Ora lost a song contest? (And how would one explain that, except by noticing that it isn't as accessible as Arisa's song?)

I cannot find the final rank. That would be interesting to know, but much more so if I knew what exactly was being judged.

Also: was there a contest among not only Artisti Proposte (Karima would run in this category), Duetti Artisti (duets between established performers?), but also among Duetti Proposte -- and Burt would be (sort of) running with Karima and Biondi in this latter category? If so, how did they rank in that category? http://www.rai.tv/dl/RaiTV/programmi/me ... 7.html?p=0

And why, if you clik on the video of Burt-Karima-Biondi, you read, when a new page opens, on the upper right-hand side, "Come in ogni ora" di Ammar - Frassi?

I thank in advance whatever help you provide.

CATEGORIA PROPOSTE 2009
SILVIA APRILE con "Un desiderio arrivera’”
ARISA con "Sincerita’”
MALIKA AYANE"Comefoglie”
CHIARA CANZIAN con "Prova a dire il mio nome”

This story says Burt wrote one song and arranged and produced another, Come in Ogni Ora, for Karima's new album.

Also mentions the fact that he doesn't understand italian, but the emotion of the singers do reach him. There's something to do with the language, and it applied to the work of Verdi. He adds that this is a bit similarto what he observes with Brazilian singers: Ivan lins, in his opinion, is much more musical when he sings in Portuguese.

Maybe that's why he let Trijntje sing this one

This performance is one of those who show the most passionate Ivan in action. Was written (as always, by him) for... an International festival we used to have in Bz in the 60s and 70s.

This one was written for another edition of the same festival. I was too young, but those were the days of some of the best music there ever was -- here and abroad. It was Elis Regina (not one of my favorites, but she has a huge following) who got to sing it at the festival, if I'm not mistaken.

Regarding the composers for Come in Ogni Ora, sung by Karima, please refer to the Wikipedia text for Steven Sater:

Steven Sater is a Tony and Grammy Award-winning American poet, playwright, lyricist, television writer, and screenwriter.
Born in Evansville, Indiana, Sater attended Washington University where he jumped from his balcony during a building fire and damaged his spine, as well as several other limbs. The months spent recovering from his injuries and burns inspired Sater to seriously pursue the arts, and he went on to study English literature at Princeton University.
...
...
...

In addition, Steven works as a lyricist with various composers in the pop/rock world –- recently writing songs with Burt Bacharach, Johnny Mandel, Andreas Carlsson, and William Joseph.
One of Sater and Bacharach’s songs will be performed at the 2009 San Remo festival by the Italian recording artist Karima.

Actually in the São Paulo show tonight Burt introduced a new song "Every other hour", which is the English version of "Come ogni ora" sung by Karima in the Festival di San Remo.
Rio, enjoy your show in Rio.

I have absolutely and unexpectedly fallen in love with this song and relish the live performance by Karima, Mario Biondi and Bacharach himself.

The single is gorgeous, but particularly in this live arrangement, Bacharach's fingerprints are evident everywhere, from the accordian-accompanied strings that open the song to the flugelhorn fills and the circling intervals that close the song in the manner of 'Anyone Who Had A Heart.' Below is a transcription of Sater's English lyrics, partially sung by Biondi in the clip.

Every other hour,
Every other love song,
Another drink and I do like before
And I start to ignore how we got to be this way.
Here it goes again.
Here it goes again...

Every other hour,
Every little sorrow,
I start to think this won't do anymore --
‘Cause there's no way to ignore how we're using the pain.
Here it goes again.
Here it goes again...

But oh, the way you loved me --
Used to make it easy.
Now I'm crying in the silence -- can't you hear me?
Hear me crying: I know just what you need.

Give me the dream,
And I'll bring you
To heaven...
And I will hold you like no other,
Love you like before.
But if you want me, lover,
Then I want more.

Every other hour,
Every other heartache,
And I think I'll just walk out that door,
I can't take anymore, if it's never gonna change.
Here it goes again.
Another drink and then...

But oh, the way you loved me --
Used to make it easy.
Now I'm crying in the silence -- can't you hear me?
Hear me crying: I know just what you need.

Give me the dream,
And I'll bring you
To heaven...
And I will hold you like no other,
Love you like before.

But if you want me, lover, then I want...
more time, on your mind...
Always together... more warmth
in your heart...
Always together, more touch,
more love...
Always together...
Hold me forever...
Hold me forever...

Yes it is! And there is another one version with only the voice of Karima. Both beatiful example of good and timeless music.

I totally agree.

My wife and my father love the song and strongly prefer that version too.

I wish more us would write Amazon reviews, YouTube comments, etc. What about clicking thumbs up to comments and giving five stars to the performances we like most? I'm sure some of us do that. I just think that it could be done by more of us and more often. From what I gather we are not too keen on doing some of these things.

For instance... Why not write about the performance in which we can see the kick that that everyone is getting, from singers to Burt to the orchestra and the audience, as a comment to one of the most watched videos that include the song and which tend, by that reason alone, to attract more viewers? We could mention our favorite recordin and perhaps the favorite video. I've been about to do that these past few days.

I suggested a thread in which we woud be able to post here what we'd write elsewhere.

I meant to refer to live version with all three of them -- even if Karima by herslelf, or with Biondi as on the record, are just excellent. I guess that became clear as I kept writing.

Tomorrow I'm meeting Buurt...

Per gli amici d'Italia,

Auguri,

Fernando Kneese

From http://www.lyricsmania.com/lyrics/karim ... 05304.html

Artiste: Karima
Chanson: Come In Ogni Ora (feat. Mario Biondi)

(Lyrics/Music: Karima Ammar Mouhoub, Mario Menicagli / Piero Giovanni Frassi)
(Ed. Nuova D'Alessandro e Galli Edizioni Musicali / Kukuzo Music / New Hidden Valley - Viareggio (Lucca) - New York - Los Angeles)

Mario Biondi: [. . .]
Insieme e sovrapposte {. . . /. . .}

Come in ogni ora
Come in ogni poesia
Un drink e poi tutto continuerà
Ma se avessi la testa di certo capirei
Siamo ancora qui
Noi ancora qui

[Every other hour
Every little sorrow
I start to think this wont do anymore
There's no way to ignore how we' re using the pain
Here it goes again
Here it goes again]

{But oh/Ma tu} perché non senti
Questi miei tormenti?
Tu distratto guardi in cielo e non ascolti
Il tuo cuore che lo sa ciò che vuoi

[Give me the dream
And I'll bring you to heaven
And I will hold you like no other,
Love you like before.
But if you want me, lover
{Then I want more / Io ti darò}

. . . . . .

[Every other hour] Come in ogni ora
[Every other heartache] Come in ogni istante
[And I think I'll just walk out that door]
Brucerò tutto ciò che qui resterà di me
Qui ancora noi
{ Another drink and then/Un altro drink e poi}

[oooh... the way you love me
Used to make it easy
Now I'm crawling in the silence can you hear me
You made me crying I know is what you need]

E lo so anch'io
Il sorriso di Dio!
L'incanto di quel Paradiso
Che nessuna, no
Dipinse sul tuo viso

{And I wanna know in time/Ti darò sempre}[and all nights always toghether]
{More warmth/Io e te} insieme... nella mia mente
[no attach] {no lies/sempre} {always together/nella mia mente} {together/ i - i - i}
io e te {insieme/more warmth} {nella mia mente/together}
stretti... sempre... nella mia mente...

EVERY OTHER HOUR

Lyrics/Music: Steven Sater, Burt Bacharach (Anno 2008)

Every other hour,
Every other love song,
Another drink and I do like before
And I start to ignore how we got to be this way.
Here it goes again.
Here it goes again...

Every other hour,
Every little sorrow,
I start to think this won't do anymore --
‘Cause there's no way to ignore how we're using the pain.
Here it goes again.
Here it goes again...

But oh, the way you loved me --
Used to make it easy.
Now I'm crying in the silence -- can't you hear me?
Hear me crying: I know just what you need.

Give me the dream,
And I'll bring you
To heaven...
And I will hold you like no other,
Love you like before.
But if you want me, lover,
Then I want more.

Every other hour,
Every other heartache,
And I think I'll just walk out that door,
I can't take anymore, if it's never gonna change.
Here it goes again.
Another drink and then...

But oh, the way you loved me --
Used to make it easy.
Now I'm crying in the silence -- can't you hear me?
Hear me crying: I know just what you need.

Give me the dream,
And I'll bring you
To heaven...
And I will hold you like no other,
Love you like before.

But if you want me, lover, then I want...
more time, on your mind...
Always together... more warmth
in your heart...
Always together, more touch,
more love...
Always together...
Hold me forever...
Hold me forever...
