Waltzes

Postby Hank » Fri Jul 04, 2008 2:21 pm

Burt is such a great exponent of songs in waltz time. There's something about that time signature that really grabs me. Does anybody else feel the same ?

A couple waltzes by other singers that are also great:

Man Enough by Lloyd Cole

And Cowboys & Angels by George Michael

Can anyone suggest other good examples ?

Cheers !

Spot on Blue. This is one of my favorites too. Did I read somewhere that Come Touch The Sun wasn't actually featured in the movie ? If not, what a loss to the viewers....

Hi Hank,
I seem to remember "Come Touch The Sun" playing over the opening credits
and at the end of this memorable scene.....in "piano" form.....

Hi Hank,
You mentioned George Michael's "Cowboys and Angels" and I couldn't help thinking of a song from that same early 90's period by British singer/songwriter Nicky Holland and a song she wrote with Lloyd Cole called "Lady Killer".
Take care,
Helcio

I've thought of another good one - Mr. Guder by the Carpenters has 3/4 and 4/4 sections within it; 3/4 seems to cause a spinning, quickening and almost unstable effect. Just as in the George Michael track.
