Did both aretha franklin and dionne warwick sing I Say A Little Prayer?
Who won in the charts?
And is it Warwick or Warwicke?
Jean Carn or Carne?
silly question

doing a quick lookup on Google...
Dionne recorded I Say a Little Prayer first in 1967...Aretha recorded it on her album in 1968, and it was released on a 45 as a b side.
Dionne's version topped Aretha's...coming in at no.4 whilst
Aretha's came in at no. 10 in usa (no.4 in u.k.)
I will voice my opinion that both of these records are equally excellent...
I prefer Dionne's because she and Burt do it so smoothly...
those "no vibrato" strings sneaking in softly are the epitome of taste in my opinion...they are as smooth and cool as glass...
Aretha works her vocal magic which is also true genius on this song...
Both of these versions are so brilliant...take your pick!
The interlocking of the backround voices with Arethas is pure soul magic!
Dionne's last name on records was Warwick, then became Warwicke for a
time in the 70's then was changed back to Warwick.
Jean Carne I'm not familiar with...maybe someone else can help you with
that one..
