1965...Burt in England...
Here is (I believe) a very rare footage of Burt on a TV show in England in 1965...the song..."Magic Potion" with a very "merseybeat" version by the Searchers...
I personally prefer the original one by Lou Johnson...but watching Burt's introduction was worth watching it...

lip-synching?
I enjoyed hearing the song again, and seeing the video for the first time... but did anyone else think it looked like "The Searchers" were lip-synching? Especially the middle guitarist, the young blond guy, he seemed to be mouthing the wrong words at times...

THE SOUND OF BACHARACH
Hi Everyone,
Please can anyone help ?
Is this "clip" from a TV Special Burt did for British Television in 1965
called "The Sound Of Bacharach" ?
I seem to remember Dionne, Dusty and Chuck Jackson appearing
as well as Burt conducting the orchestra.
It was this, that first introduced me to the music of Mr Burt Bacharach
and I've been a "fan" ever since !!!....any information would be
greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
"Blue"
PS
When will Burt's TV Special's ever be released on DVD ?
They're long, long overdue !!!

Bonjour blueonblue;
Yes you are correct about the, "The Sound Of Bacharach".
Yeah, this is where Chuck Jackson did that killer, "Any Day Now!"
There were also a couple of small segments with Burt & Hal talking!
If I recall, it was done in Grenada Studios in London.
P.S. I will send you an email tonight on more about this show.
Take care mon ami.

Hello All,
"The Sound of Bacharach" is a tv program I must have for my library..I wonder if it is available in total(it must be somewhere..)
British tv had a different line scan system than America, and the video tape used in these productions had to be converted to the 325 line scan for Amercian tv.
Nelson Riddle also did a rare tv show in the early 60's over in Britain. In this show, he explains his sound, and explains his concept of music, how he did things...whilst conducting his orchestra, etc. This is another "rarie" I need to get someday..
