Inadvertantly, you have hit on the genius of Burt... he makes anyone who works with him better....

I love Cilla Black, as a person she seems to be someone special and honest and good: but she is not the greatest female pop vocalist from the merseybeat era (and some of her early stuff has horrendous high notes).

The genius in pairing with Dionne Warwick is the use of her restrained style... and identifying it in the first place.... someone far more qualified than me said Burt's ear should be in the Smithsonian, for it is a national treasure.

Anyway I'd better drop the "gushing fan" mode now..
regards, David.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice, there is.

Hi David,
You are quite right Burt bring's the best out of anyone who works
with him,as with Cilla who Burt has described as a "Good Sport"
Her version of "Alfie" is wonderful !!! she tried her damndest on that
song............full credit to her !!!
Rufus is a fantastic singer/songwriter and performer in his own right
just listen to some of his solo work two songs in particular from his
"Want" albums "Dinner At Eight" and "Memphis Skyline" are heartbreaking!!!

Take Care,
"Blue"
