Re: Kennedy Center Honors: Dionne Warwick

It's a great shame Burt and Hal never got the honour, but it is what it is I guess. That reminds me of the time the board of the Pulitzer prize ignored the jury recommendation to give the prize to Duke Ellington and just awarded no music prize that year. It says a lot more about the nature of these...

Re: Sheet Music for ALL of Bacharach's Songs?

Regarding sheet music for obscurities, some of the notable early songs with lyricists other than Hal David are hard to find, songs like "Baby It's You", "Tower of Strength", and Mexican Divorce". Bacharach & David's songs published by Arch in 1962-1963 are rare, with the...

Re: South American Getaway, phase-corrected

Thanks, I never realized this album was mastered in this manner. I used Audacity to invert a channel on each of the tracks and I'm going to give it a spin!

Re: Morrissey sings Bacharach

Thanks for posting this. I spent many an hour of my youth listening to The Smiths. Morrissey is a great singer, and does the vocal justice here. Like kd lang, another genius singer, he's spent long, long stretches of his career singing rather forgettable material (from a musical perspective--the lyr...
