Belle & Sebastian cover Burt

I know this is probably a little too loose for some of you guys, but here's one of my favorite bands, Belle & Sebastian, doing an impromptu cover of "Raindrops" live in the studio. Happy Sunday!

Re: How's everyone doing?

Everybody's welcome to believe whatever they want to believe, but please don't use the forum to promote conspiracy theories. That's not the point of this thread and this isn't the time or place for it.

How's everyone doing?

Sorry I've been absent for the past few weeks, but between working from home, homeschooling our daughter and dealing with an aged parent in a nursing home, I haven't had much time for fun. I hope everyone is well and safe and making the best of this awful situation. To my friends in Italy and New Yo...

I haven't seen an official announcement, but members of his band have said on social media that the tour has been postponed.

Re: Kritzerland to release London cast recording of Promises, Promises

It's odd that Kritzerland should claim this to be the first release of the Original London Cast Recording as they issued a limited edition of 1000 in 2010 (KR 20016-3) with what appear to be the same liner notes by Bruce Kimmel. I don't see a catalogue number for the 2020 release. Maybe they mean t...

Kritzerland to release London cast recording of Promises, Promises

Just got an email from Kritzerland about its pre-release of the London cast recording of Promises, Promises , featuring Tony Roberts and Betty Buckley. Click the link for more info, but do it fast. It's a limited run of just 300 CDs. http://kritzerland.com/promisesUK.htm?fbclid=IwAR3k39pJV1K5c5XgXD7...

How Does A Man Become a Puppet vs. She's Gone Away

Which version do you prefer? Serene Dominic argues the melody works better with words, but I think I prefer the drama of Burt's original instrumental. . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw_u8Wuh6xk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZlcnwsOVpY For good measure, here's Mike Patton's version from the...

Registration is open and working!

After temporaily closing new registrations due to spam, I'm happy to say forum registration is once again open. You will need to answer an (easy) question about Burt to prove you're not a bot and you will need to provide a working email address in order to activate your account. There were previousl...

Re: Blast from the past

Stefan is still around! I'm friends with him on Facebook and enjoy seeing photos of his lovely famly and life in Sweden. With a few clicks, I noticed the late, great Vincent Cole, Alec Cumming, Steve Owen, Martin Edwards, Dennis Webb, Harry Neyhart,Roberto Pinardi, David Noble, Davide Bonori, Alvina...

Blast from the past

Whenever I have to re-learn how to update the software on the site, it sends me down a rabbit hole trying to recall the history and various incarnations of the discussion forum. I wish I'd archived the original discussion forum because it was an absolute goldmine of information back in the day (as w...

Sorry about the downtime!

Sorry the site was broken for the last couple of days. Believe it or not, I'm not an IT specialist and trying to make sense of php, mysql and phpbb makes my eyes glaze over. At some point, I'm going to have to upgrade the forum's software to the new version so you may see the site down for maintenan...

Re: Just joined.

Welcome Jay! There had been some issues with registration to the forum for a while that had to do with spam countermeasures, but I think they're fixed. Let's hope the spam stays under control. In the meantime, if anyone is in contact with someone who can't log in and can't register, please send me a...

Re: R.I.P. ... Vincent Cole

I'm heartbroken. Fourteen years ago, Vincent was the very first person to post to this version of the Bacharach discussion forum and he ranks fifth in all time number of posts. He's one of a handful of fans who've kept this forum alive all these years, and he's always been a source of enthusiasm and...

Re: Sorry!

Thanks for everything you've done and sorry about all the trouble. Unless you know better than I, however, I don't think Baidu Spider is the originator of all the spam accounts. Baidu is essentially the Google of China. Its robot just visits pages and logs their content for its search engine. There ...
