Re: 100 Reasons the Beatles Suck

These "scenic detours" ARE fun - and - I would encourage others to initiate similar discussions. ....... Provocative subject titles like "100 Reasons the Beatles Suck" encourage participation and expand the scope of the discussion and the variety of opinions presented ....... Tha...

Re: Waiting for Charlie

Much can be rightfully overlooked when a composer performs his own work - especially when performed live! .... The intensity and passion of these performances overshadows any vocal shortcomings!

..... Andy Williams - perhaps the greatest "male interpreter" of these Bacharach/David classics. ........ Obviously sung the way Burt likes them sung! .... Thanks for posting this link!

Re: Great News

.... One of the best things about this "Discussion Forum" is that so many of the participants bring to it a wealth of knowledge on many of the topics addressed. ...... I've often thought it would be great if Burt - or - one of "his people" could post something occasionally on tho...

Rob:

That is "Great News" - Hopefully something positive will materialize for "Some Lovers" in light of the fact that Bacharach and Sater appear to be solidly behind this effort! ... Thanks for sharing this link!

Re: "Finder of Lost Loves" version Warwick/Vandross released

Just makes you wonder just how much more unreleased material still remains in those "mysterious vaults"! ....... I still recall the Dionne/Luther version of "Finder Of Lost Loves" on that short lived TV show with both names appearing in the show's credits. ..... Don't understand ...

.... A similar quote could have come from both Dusty Springfield and Jackie DeShannon referring to Dionne. . ... Dionne recorded covers with similar arrangements of both "What The World Needs Now" and "The Look Of Love" ......... While I've always characterized Warwick as inimita...

Martin: "Fool Killer" was a favorite of mine back in the mid 60's BEFORE I knew Burt Bacharach existed. ..... Still is one of my "mellow BB favorites" along with "Extravagant Gestures", "Don't Say I Didn't Tell You So", "Window Wishing", Captives Of ...

Blair! ....... It IS CLEARLY REMINISCENT of "As Long As There's An Apple Tree" ....... Got me to thinking how difficult it would be for Burt to NOT incorporate elements of his very best songs into his subsequent and current compositions! .... Thanks for posting that "blue"

Re: Dionne's 23-Song Medley

BachtoBacharach: We share many of the same recollections. After discovering who Dionne was during my college years in 1964 - I first saw her perform at Mister Kelly's (now Gibson's Steak House) on Rush Street in Chicago back in 1967. Between 1967 and 1970 I attended Warwick Concerts at The Civic Ope...

Re: Dionne's 23-Song Medley

This impeccably performed medley was the centerpiece of her performances between the late 70's and early 80's when her career was revived following her signing with Clive Davis at Arista and the release of her Manilow produced album "DIONNE". ..... During the 70's - following her breakup w...

Dear Rosie: With the following exception - I AGREE with all you've expressed here: .... When it comes to singing along - it can infringe on the enjoyment of others who can barely hear what is being performed. I've attended Bacharach and Warwick concerts where nothing short of glaring stares and dirt...

Re: I don`t think this has been posted here...

I did see this earlier this year. ....... Love seeing composers and lyricists perform their own songs. To this day I enjoy listening to Carole's album: "Sometimes Late at Night" as well as Burt's interpretations of his favorites in concert!
