Re: We Need to Go Back

"Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" was released officially as part of a 2 CD Bond set by EMI in the UK, which also featured many other rarities, demos etc.

Re: Dionne Warwick's voice

[quote="BlueLotus"]I am a great fan of Burt Bacharach and his music....... Though he is late, he still lives among us with the magic of his songs.

No, Burt is still VERY much with us - and still touring! Long may he do so!

Re: The maestro in Edinburgh

Meant to include the fact that Burt mentioned during the Edinburgh concert that he is writing a musical based on the "Painted From Memory" album. He and Elvis Costello are writing some new songs for it as well.
Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere?

Re: in London

"Trainers" is (are?) the British term for what you Americans call sneakers: ie: running-type footwear.
One more example of the language difference between continents!
Still high from seeing Burt on Saturday night in Edinburgh.

The maestro in Edinburgh

Just back from Burt's concert at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh last night (the 29th). A nearly full auditorium welcomed Mr. Bacharach back to Edinburgh for the fourth time - he mentioned his visit to the Edinburgh Festival way back in 1964 (and 1965) as conductor for Marlene Dietrich. Always good to h...

Re: Dionne's Catalogue Expanded and Remastered...

Great news, but I hope that either the US or UK branches of WEA pick these up - these Japanese issues are pricey!
And there does seem to be a lot of duplication with the old Rhino series. But good to see that somebody cares about the Scepter and Warner back catalogue.

Re: New concert dates

Just found out about Burt's upcoming concert at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh - hardly any seats left but managed to get 2 in the stalls (although at the back). Wonder if Burt remembers performing next door to the Usher Hall at the Lyceum Theatre with Marlene Dietrich in 1964 and 1965? Can't wait! Ali...

Re: Long Ago Last Summer

To be fair, the Mathis "Heavenly" was on the first El Bacharach release a couple of years ago. But I would like to have had Lena Horne's "Out Of My Continental Mind" instead of one of the more well known tracks. And isn't "Move It On the Backbeat" available on CD alread...

Excellent - another CD with undiscovered Bacharach gems - thanks for the heads-up, would have missed this otherwise!

Re: Happy birthday, Master Burt Bacharach!

I remember meeting Burt in Edinburgh at the stage door of the Lyceum theatre way back in both 1964 and '65 - he was conducting for Marlene Dietrich and I was a teenager who loved his music (still do!). Many happy returns, Maestro Bacharach!

Re: Forthcoming documentary about Drinkard Family

"The Magic Of Believing" was reissued on CD by Collectors Choice Music in 2007 (CCM 759). I must dig out my copy to see what the sound quality is like - if I remember rightly, it sounded fine to me when I played it shortly after I got hold of a copy in 2007. The Drinkard documentray sounds...

Re: BBC4 'Bacharach Night'

A marvellous compilation of Bacharach songs - although I personally could have done without the Stranglers version of "Walk On By", and Val Doonican and Billie Jo Spears version of "What the World Needs Now Is Love" lolloped along without any sense of pace - imagine it this being...

Re: Lost Horizon to DVD on October 4

Apparently there was some sort of error in the first issue of this DVD - the sound mix was not stereo, for some reason. But there will be a new pressing available with a 5.1 mix.
