Re: Laura Nyro: The Search For Video Footage
There have been rumors of documentaries "in the works" for over thirty years, many of which seemed credible at the time. There was supposed to have been a video crew at one of the Bottom Line shows I saw around `90 but none ever showed. It`s difficult to guess the interest such a project w...

Re: The Bacharach Sound: 1965 TV Special
Laura didn`t even get the audio bootlegging that she deserved in those days. When vinyl "unauthorised" albums were everywhere, including abysmal sounding cassette-recorded transfers of "live" performances of everyone from Hendrix to James Taylor, Laura Nyro recordings were conspi...

Re: Rare Bacharach covers
I`ve been waiting for this.
I hesitated to post what I did, but the situation struck me as being analogous to someone crashing a graduate seminar and sounding off without having heard or read any of the other participants. Asking someone to do a little homework isn`t asking a lot.

Geoff, At the risk of seeming to be a nag, I respectfully request that you read the available contributions to this forum made over the past couple of decades. If you take the time to do that, you will find that your examples of everything have been cited before and that all of your topics - and man...

Re: Another great song that sounds like Bacharach
Come on, it`s not a matter of my approval. It`s just my opinion. I never said no one was influenced by Bacharach. It just struck me that most of the examples were either well-known or a real stretch. It was when I saw the 416,000 entries that the whole thing had become irrelevant. If you and others ...

Re: Another great song that sounds like Bacharach
Guys, if 416,000 songs "sounded like" Bacharach, there would be nothing unique about his compositions. A "leap" and a couple of odd intervals do not a Bacharach song make.
This is an irrelevant topic and I really wish it could be taken down.

Re: Who is Bacharach's second best writing partner?
I think it`s very much up for debate (however heretical) that Hal was Burt`s best lyricist - albeit indisputably his most commercially successful. I`ve always thought it regrettable that Burt never had a partner with the sophistication of a Larry Hart or a Cole Porter. I understand that these men we...

Here`s one many missed, appearing on the criminally overlooked Nikki Jean album:

Burt Recording on Dreamworks Records?
It`s deep in this obit of Mo Ostin (worth reading in its own right for us geezers of a certain era), but Burt is reported as having signed with them. Well into my senior years, I may be overlooking the obvious - I`ve done that a lot lately - but I can`t come up with anything. What`s right in front o...

Mystery Song, Mystery Writers
This has nothing to do with Burt but is of similar melodic invention. The credits are to three names who are not known to me or known to have written (in any combination or singly) another song.
Anyone have a clue?
