Mark: Your position on this issue is valid. Had Burt been born in January or even February (when most of us erroneously write the previous year when dating our checks etc.) I could understand writing down the wrong year (even twice). Perhaps Burt's manager would be kind enough to respond to a reques...

WARBACHAVID: The above post sounds like it was written two years ago! Any insight as why this project has been delayed for so long? Last June Dionne anticipated a Christmas 2003 release. Her most recent statement (posted above) envisions a Valentine 2005 release date. While on the subject of the Sin...

Dionne never takes credit for participating in some compilation Christmas albums as well as her 1994 recording with Placido Domingo entitled "Celebration In Vienna" which along with the video of that performance is amongst our holiday favorites. Included on that CD is a solo performance of...

Bach to Bacharach: our perceptions are very similar. When I mentioned ONJ's "Sam" - I recalled hearing it the very first time and wondering why Dionne didn't record that BB song. Agree with your take on the Jerry Ragovoy composition "Getting In My Way" and might include two more ...

Burt!

Wishing you the "Very Best" as you celebrate another year! Thanks for continuing to keep on keeping on. Looking forward to seeing you in San Diego this summer (during the racing season here in Del Mar).

MANY MANY MORE!

Great topic for this discussion board - we addressed it in this forum some time ago. There are many - for starters: a song recorded several years back by Olivia Newton John entitled "Sam" written by John Farrar / Hank Marvin / Dan Black. I'll add more of my picks for this list of "fau...

Burt in concert / San Diego

Front page in yesterday's ARTS section (San Diego Union - Tribune) along with photo: Burt will perform with the San Diego Symphony as part of the "Summer Pops" program on August 27th & 28th downtown at the Embarcadero Marina Park (right in the middle of the horse racing season @ Del Ma...

WBD thanks for keeping us informed on the widespread appreciation for BB's music. It truly is timeless and my appreciation is renewed every time I hear one of his songs (whether it's a 50 year old version by Perry Como or Gene Pitney or a contemporary interpretation) Appreciate your posts!

Being the cosummate professional that she is coupled with her incomparable musical abilty - not only has Dionne masterfully amended her vocal interpretations to accommodate the changes in her voice - she has the innate ability to overcome the obstacles that affect her voice such as weather condition...

Thanks for the "candid" and apparently "honest" review. If the performance ran just 60 minutes there must have been some reason for it. The San Diego concert last June ran 90 minutes + and for the most part Dionne was in "full voice". As stated in my review of that conc...

Unfortunately - Dionne's 1973 album "Just Being Myself" was released during those Warner years where anything she recorded was underappreciated and unfairly compared to all her work with Burt & Hal. Dionne had no choice but to move on after Burt & Hal decided to go their separate w...

Jack Jones performed here in San Diego last June for an afternoon concert on the very same day that Dionne brought her 40th anniversary show to our city. Jack remains at the top of his game and praised Burt and joked about the one song that Dionne did not get before him! I posted my own review last ...
