The Raven folks responded to my inquiry about a second volume of rarities last year by stating that the licensing hassles were enough to discourage the project.

The Webb set is surely a worthy investment for any fan of the writer`s music. True, the earliest albums had a rougher sound than did subsequent releases, but the characteristic melodies adorn much of that material as well. I e-mailed them a week or two ago for an update and haven`t heard back.

While we`re waiting (nearly a year? Really?) for the Sony album, are there any album-length projects in the pipeline? Soundtracks? Another collaboration with a singer?

It enabled me to test for the first time in a quarter century two long-held biases. #1. WOMAN is his best album and an unmatched creative peak. #2. Given only the two collaborations with Libby Titus that I`m aware of, it would have been a creatively more rewarding partnership than that with Carole B...
