Re: Your choice for a beautiful Burt co-writer hookup?

My two choices would be Robbie Dupree and/or Todd Rundgren--both have excellent voices and great writing skills. Whatever happened to them?

BB/HD/DW--Together, they make such sweet music!

Yes, David. I believe that the appearance of them together on stage may be an indication that they will be writing together again (hopefully for Dionne) since Hal's pushing 90, Burt's pushing 80, and Dionne's pushing 70. As I've always heard, the best song has yet to be written!

"WHY WE SING"

I purchased the new Dionne CD on yesterday at Borders and it is everything (and more) that I had hoped to hear. Every song is beautifully structured and sung with deep emotion. After hearing "The Magic of Believing" that Dionne recorded some 40 years ago, I was hoping that Burt and Hal wou...

Two additional versions of "Be Aware"

I have two other versions of "Be Aware". One version (which I believe to be the original) is by the Delightfully Different Dionne Warwick and the other version is by the late, great singer/songwriter Laura Nyro. I hope that you get the chance to hear both of these versions because they are...

"Back To Bacharach"'s Arrangements

I just finished listening to Michael Ball's "Back To Bacharach" and I feel the same way you did, pljms, when you referred to Trintje Oosterhuis' arrangement of "Don't Make Me Over" as "over-the-top" Boston Pops. Only in Michael Ball's case, the arrangements sound as if ...

THE Best Composer Of All Time!

Yes Raul, I also agree with you that Burt is the best composer that ever walked on planet Earth! I talk to my friends about music in general all the time and one day, I was talking to my best friend whom we both share similar tastes in music (i.e. Clapton, Taj Mahal, B.B. King, James Taylor) and I t...

My Little Red Book

"My Little Red Book" taken from the movie "What's New Pussycat?" as performed by Love really doesn't sound like a Bacharach composition at all. The different time signatures in that song is the only thing that would lead one to believe that it may have been written by Burt. Didn'...

Production and Arrangements by Burt

Thanx Marcel for that info! As always, I'm wanting something new from Burt as long as he HIMSELF is doing the production and arrangements of his own compositions. I hardly ever buy a CD that isn't produced and arranged by Burt. I am thrilled to know that he himself appears on this CD maybe not only ...

Walk On By

Blue's choice of words reflect exactly how I, too, feel about "Walk On By". I still get a rush every time I hear it! On Burt's version of "Whoever You Are, I Love You" I believe the last words "Sometimes, your eyes look blue to me" are sung by Dionne in a cameo appearan...

Hal's Brother

I believe the answer to #10 (Hal's brother, as Joan NYC eluded to) is Mack David. I do remember another gentleman that worked with Burt in the early days of his writing career by the name of Bob Hilliard.

The Answer To #3

This was a very challenging lyrical test which means a lot of thought went into it. Thanx again Scotsgreg for challenging us! I believe the answer to #3 is "How Can I Hurt You?" by Dionne. Hope you have a "Part II" for us soon.

Walk On By

My favorite instrumental intro is still Dionne's "Walk On By"--I just simply get a rush everytime I hear it on those oldie stations that play it from time to time.

Sterling Performance

Thanks Marcel for sharing that link with us. Dionne sounded better than ever! Her voice, phrasing, and enunciation were all in top form! She just simply blew me away with that performance. I am looking forward to her new gospel CD (the one she mentioned on her website) knowing that we fans are in fo...

Come And Get Me

The lyrics to "Come And Get Me" by Jackie DeShannon are my favorite ones by the great Hal David. An excerpt: I know what life has done to you, Things haven't been too much fun for you, That's why you went away. This town isn't the town for you, You like to be where the skies are blue, And ...

I Miss Keith

I too shared e-Mails with Keith. There was a soundtrack (Together?) along with two songs by Paul Anka that I couldn't find anywhere so I e-Mailed Keith and he took care of it--just like that! He had his friend Bruce from Tuscon transcribe the soundtrack onto CD and added a surprise at the end which ...
