Re: Dusty & Burt

Another one to look out for is Dusty's breathless version of Knowing When to Leave. I believe it was recorded during one of the Burt TV specials. There are other versions on YouTube but they don't measure up to this classic rendering.

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

If this one's been posted before I apologize. I thought this was interesting because this looks like a Futures era Burt but this song is much more "1972". Interesting too that Jackie's phrasing is very Dionne. If you close your eyes, it could almost be Dionne. http://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Ennio Morricone

Here's a link to an Ennio Morricone number. As some of the Youtube comments note, this differs a bit from the original (and the original is much better)... However, what with the gorgeous melodys and rhythms and the whacky vocals, I felt this could have come from the Butch Cassidy score. Do other Bu...

Re: Long Ago Tomorrow (Chords)

Steveo, Thanks for the direction. I'll take it and go from there (probably very slowly). Blue - Thanks for the link. Interesting that the song is referred to as "In My Dreams" I got to thinking...You know how hip-hop artists & rappers are prone to sampling pieces of old songs...If I wa...

Long Ago Tomorrow (Chords)

Can anyone supply chords for Long Ago Tomorrow ? That intro to the chorus and the chorus itself are just pop perfection (but sadly beyond my ability to work out on my own.
Thanks !

Re: Award for Who`ll Speak For Love- Trijntje

One thing (amongst others) that I'm very grateful to Trijntje for is letting me clearly hear the line "in the window of this poor, forlorn and broken home" from This House is Empty Now. What a great line. Her version ain't half bad either. Any chance that's Burt on piano ? I wonder if her ...

Re: I Took My Strength From You

This is great. I'm always trawling for good 70's stuff and tips like this really help.
"She" is one of my favorite Gram Parsons songs. Sounds like there are few other goodies on the album.
Thanks for the info. I'll let you know if I find anything.

Re: I Took My Strength From You

Thanks grooverider. I would never have guessed. That is very understated compared to the sylvester I know.
So it's back to the Russian website to get the Sylvester version of the Gram Parsons song.
What song was it ?
That I have to hear !

I Took My Strength From You

I have a version of I Took My Strength From You from an album called The Rare Bacharach 1956-1978. I downloaded it from a somewhat dubious (?) Russian website. No information was provided as to the artist. A prize to the first one who can tell me who it is.

Thanks,

Hank

Re: Waltzes

Spot on Blue. This is one of my favorites too. Did I read somewhere that Come Touch The Sun wasn't actually featured in the movie ? If not, what a loss to the viewers....

Waltzes

Burt is such a great exponent of songs in waltz time. There's something about that time signature that really grabs me. Does anybody else feel the same ? A couple waltzes by other singers that are also great: Man Enough by Lloyd Cole http://www.last.fm/music/Lloyd+Cole/_/Man+Enough And Cowboys &...
