"Evie" by Johnny Mathis

Hi Steveo,
You're absolutely right..."Evie" is a great "unknown" gem written by Jimmy Webb...although, Johnny Mathis had a huge hit here in Brazil with his recording of "Evie" in 1971.
We can listen to it on YouTube...

Hi, there! Coincidentally, I was about to post something related to this ... I recently bought The Stylistics' 1973 album (on CD) "Rockin'Roll Baby", the last one produced by Thom Bell, and the sequence..."Could This Be The End"..."Let Them Work It Out"..."Make It ...

Just saw Patty Ascher on a Brazilian TV show hosted by another Brazilian singer (from the 60's pop music scene) Ronnie Von called TODO SEU (All Yours in English)...and the girl didn't dissapoint...she sang her Bossa Nova version of "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head" accompanied by an awes...

1965...Burt in England...

Here is (I believe) a very rare footage of Burt on a TV show in England in 1965...the song..."Magic Potion" with a very "merseybeat" version by the Searchers... I personally prefer the original one by Lou Johnson...but watching Burt's introduction was worth watching it... http://...

Brian Wilson song with a Bacharach twist

Check it out and see if you agree...In 1965, Brian Wilson wrote (with Russ Titleman) and produced "Guess I'm Dumb" for Glen Campbell. There's a video for the song at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtRC4SIQxKc The sound quality is not good but you can have an idea...that the song has a Bac...

that's a tough one...

Among some many wonderful songs is hard to choose a favorite one, so I'll select two (non-hits) tunes...1970's "Send My Picture To Scranton, PA" by B. J. Thomas and 1972's "Be Aware" by Dionne Warwick.
Take care,
Helcio

Be True To Yourself on the charts

Dear Steveo, I've done a research on BTTY performance on the charts and here's what I got...Billboard POP charts # 34 (for 7 weeks) and Cash Box # 36 (for 8 weeks). I probably heard this song for the very first in early 90's (when a Bobby Vee compilation called Legendary Master Series was released) ...

Long Ago Tomorrow...on YOUTUBE

It was a pleasant surprise to see that they have a video for this wonderful Bacharach & David hidden gem (for some people, at least)...
I believe it's from a Kenny Rogers & the First Edition TV special...
