A fit and healthy-looking Burt appeared early on in the second hour of the show, in conjunction with an award being given to Herb Alpert & Jerry Moss, as well as to present Song of the Year (I believe alongside Seal).

Check out http://www.180music.com/spotlight/features_newmusic.html and click on the album cover for the full track list for the new Target CD. Looks to be really exciting for Burt fans -- two new songs ("What Love Can Do" performed by Brian Wilson and "I Still Remember" performed...

New Bacharach music at Target?

Check out billboard.com today for an article on 180 Music, a new (Target-exclusive) label whose first releases will hit shelves on February 25. Apparently among their offerings is a Phil Ramone-produced disc with performers such as Brian Wilson, Carole King and our man Burt each contributing a remak...

With BB as producer/arranger, I believe BJ cut "Raindrops", "Scranton, PA", "Everybody's Out of Town" and "Long Ago Tomorrow". Other BJ/BB covers I know of are "This Guy's...", "Close To You", and two recently released from-the-vaults gems,...

Yes, Bacharach/Simon compositions were part of the unreleased three-song Burt/Dionne session. I believe Phil Ramone was involved in those recordings, too.

Ron, I was surprised too to find the 4 Rhino Handmades still available via their website. Perhaps that explains why the Rhino brass wouldn't greenlight further reissues, though I had read that Ms. Warwick wasn't in favor of the series continuing (mainly because she didn't want the albums "compe...

Hi, perhaps I should have made myself a little clearer in my original post -- the CCM reissues are of the Scepter albums NOT in the Rhino Handmade series (VERY DIONNE; PROMISES, PROMISES two-fered with I'LL NEVER FALL IN LOVE AGAIN; THE WINDOWS OF THE WORLD two-fered with VALLEY OF THE DOLLS; SOULFU...

New Dionne reissues from CCM

For those of you who might not have picked up the British two-fers some years ago, Collectors Choice is on 1/2 releasing a number of original Dionne albums to CD, and they're boasting fresh remastering, too. This batch includes the never-on-CD LIVE IN PARIS, ON STAGE AND IN THE MOVIES and THE MAGIC ...

RE: "I'm Gonna Find Her"

I don't believe the Steve & Eydie recording is currently available (though S & E are little by little getting their catalog on CD via their website, as I'm sure you know), but Brian Gari has recorded a version of "I'm Gonna Find Her" on his BRIAN GARI SINGS WILLIAMS & NICHOLS C...

It's fascinating to compare the Peter Matz-arranged version on the FLIP SIDE soundtrack to Burt's single release which can be found on Hip-O Select's SOMETHING BIG box set. And both are smashing, swinging and perfectly encapsulate the era as much as Burt's scores to CASINO ROYALE, PUSSYCAT, etc.!

Burt in CT!

As Vincent and Paula have mentioned, Burt's Mohegan Sun shows were wonderful!! I was there Saturday night, and he played a solid 1:45 of hits! And what a pleasant surprise it was to hear Donna Taylor do "Fallin' Out of Love" from Aretha's last album. We got 4 songs from AT THIS TIME, which...

And one more...

Don't believe this single has been released yet on CD -- here's Eydie Gorme's lovely version of "This Girl's In Love With You" -- listen real close towards the end for what sounds like beautiful harmony with hubby Steve Lawrence.
