There's no definitive list of Warwick/BB recordings, but from this very website's fine discography, you can compile a complete list of their RELEASED recordings together, which I've maintained for a long while would make a very fine box set, indeed. Add to the list the unreleased Warner session you ...

I've been playing this since it arrived a couple days back -- a beautifully packaged & annotated collection, and a must for any Motown/Supremes fans. The presence of Burt songs such as "The Look of Love" and "Let The Music Play" (lending the set its title, natch!) just made m...

Gene also recorded "Donna Means Heartbreak" written by Paul Hampton and Hal David...Hampton, in turn, composed a number of songs with Burt including tunes for the Four Aces, Steve Rossi, Gene Vincent, Sonny James and Hampton himself. Small world, isn't it? :-)

PROMISES Returning to Broadway?

Thought everyone here would like to know that a workshop production of PROMISES, PROMISES is scheduled for later this month in New York. It's to star Anne Hathaway (THE PRINCESS DIARIES) and Sean Hayes (WILL & GRACE), and to be directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Rob Ashford (CURTAIN...

In addition, it looks like an alternate take of Burt's "Uninivited Dream" (written with Sammy Gallop) will appear on ALL AGLOW AGAIN, another one of the Collector's Choice reissues. The original recording of "Uninvited Dream" was previously only available on Peggy's Singles Colle...

There's a wonderful disc in private circulation of BB & EC working on "God Give Me Strength" -- Bacharach's mastery in the studio recalls that of the driven, young Brian Wilson as heard on the PET SOUNDS session tapes. No wonder BB was such an inspiration to BW -- now if only we can ge...

Interesting that "Rain From The Skies" has become a bit of a reggae classic, covered by a number of inlfuential reggae artists, despite never having been a hit on the pop charts. I'm kind of partial to the original version and its great chart, too!

It's a pity there's never been an expanded reissue of the CASINO ROYALE soundtrack with this finale track included! A search of the 'net, though, should yield streaming audio of the Nick Redway-credited single version of this rare performance!

This has long been one of my favorite BB/HD songs; while it's unique in its simplicity (both musical & lyrical), it's filled with the melodic quirks that define Bacharach. In fact, I might choose this over more well-known songs were I to introduce someone to Burt's work. A little gem it truly is!

Best Buy is offering a bonus DVD with Shelby's album that contains a live performance of "Wishin' & Hopin'", a track not on the CD. To find it on CD, it will be available as a UK-only bonus track on their edition of the album.

Thanks, grooverider, for the heads-up! As I have 8 of the 9 songs in my collection, I've shot an email to RC and hopefully they will follow up with Bob Stanley. How wonderful it would be to have a legitimate CD reissue of these lost Bacharach gems! (And if anybody has a copy of "Your Lips Are W...

I've been listening to WHO'LL SPEAK FOR LOVE nonstop since getting it as a Christmas gift, and I can say without hesitation that it's highly recommended, and the listener is definitely struck by the variety of arrangement styles. These range from the big-band "Any Day Now" (when I first hi...

Well said, grooverider! I got a thrill watching the DVD and hearing Andy in his prime singing to those Bacharach arrangements (especially the brief "Alfie"!) -- if only the Maestro & Mr. Williams had collaborated in the studio!
