Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

A very rare B&D song and an even rarer cover by Liz Damon. The chord sequence to the verse is a beauty:

Re: A great voice silenced

I believe her last recording was a duet with songwriter Jimmy Webb of his hit song 'All I Know', from his 2010 album 'Just Across the River'. It was poignant then...........

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

"Ina fr" on the picture suggests it's of French origin, Blue, so it's a fairly good bet that it was shot in a TV studio in Paris. We all know she was really big there in the 60s. Here's another early Bacharach/David/Warwick gem that is unique for the way everything stops for the four repea...

Re: And Then You Know What He Did...rare Dionne track.

Thanks for the link, Blue. Yes, 'Looking With My Eyes' still sounds extraordinary after all these years. As for other complex BB songs, I used to think that 'A Young Pretty Girl Like You' from 'Promises, Promises' was quite complicated, that is until I heard 'And Then You Know What He Did'! http://w...

Re: And Then You Know What He Did...rare Dionne track.

It makes 'Looking With My Eyes' seem about as complex as 'The Story of My Life'! On the first couple of hearings I can't say that the words and the music are a match made in heaven and of course there are the 'holes' ("La, La Las" in place of lyrics). Pity it fades out just when it's gaini...

Re: RIP Eydie Gorme

She seemed to have a beautiful, fun-loving personality which came over delightfully when she was the mystery celebrity guest on 'What's My Line' with her husband Steve Lawrence blindfolded on the panel:

Re: Together

I've had the LP for years and will look out for the CD. It's strange but it wasn't until I heard Karima's recent BB arranged and produced version of 'I've Got My Mind Made Up' that I fell in love with the song, and that's coming from a real Michael McDonald admirer! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wy...

Re: Rita Reys Died

Sad news. I've had her Bacharach LP since the 70s and still dip into it regularly. Here's her lovely version of the beautiful and still underated 'Paper Mache':

Re: Make it easy??

I heard the Jerry Jackson record this morning too, Paul, and was intrigued to say the least! Joe South's song 'I Knew You When' is also 'inluenced by' a Bacharach original, this time 'Anyone Who Had A Heart'. In my opinion this is even more shameless and here it is sung by Linda Ronstadt, who, irony...

Re: "Hush" et, al. from Some Lovers

I remember first seeing the video of 'Every Other Hour' sung in both Italian and English in 2009 which means the song predates the production of the 'Some Lovers' musical by at least two years. Apparently Karima's recording of it went Top 10 in italy and I'm sure given a high profile singer (Adele?)...

Re: in London

His name is so distinctive, Sara, that people remember it even if they're not sure who he is and what he's achieved. This was brought home to me a couple of hours before the first Festival Hall concert in June when I happened to be passing the venue and came upon the Great man signing autographs out...

Re: in London

Blue, I checked on the internet and it seems that when Bill Cantos is not out on the road with BB he's an LA based nightclub performer. This is the other number he sang on the recent European tour, 'Hush' from 'Some Lovers'. Also here is a better quality video of Josie James performing 'Every Other ...

Re: in London

Here's a video of BB's new 2nd keyboardist and MD (Bill Cantos?) performing 'My little Red Book' from one of the recent concerts. It was very interesting hearing Burt during the Festival Hall concerts talking so fondly of his time living in London while scoring the movie 'My Little Red Book' comes f...

Re: in London

I heard BB jokingly refer to 'Three Wheels on my Wagon' as "Wagon Wheels" at the first RFH concert, as I've heard him do before in interviews. It's difficult to overestimate how popular the New Christie Minstrels' recording of the song was on British radio in the mid-60s, particularly on c...

Re: in London

I managed to get two returned tickets for BB's second sold out London concert in 11 days last night and what a joy it was to spend two more hours with the Great man and his band. Other than 'I Still Have That Other Girl' replacing 'God Give Me Strength' the running order was the same as before, alth...
