Buffalo

I guess I should have made it clearer in the body of my post that the unfamiliar city (to me) is Buffalo, NY.

Buffalo ?!

Old man that I am, I`m about to see Burt for the first time in a city I`ve never been to. Does anyone know how far from the airport the Kleinhans Music Hall is or have any other tips for a traveller from the northeast? I realise this forum is no substitute for a travel agency but I thought I`d throw...

You`d think I`d have learned by know that irony doesn`t always play well; I of course know that BH died in `59.

The Man, Himself

Mark,
Has there ever been any indication that Burt troubles himself to check out this site? Not that it matters; just curious.

Looks to me like Billie Holliday but it`s my understanding that she was never offered the song.

movie songs

I usually avoid these "list" topics, but because I`ve had a few I`ll put in my two cents. I heartily applaud the mentions of "World Is a Circle" and "Long Ago Tomorrow", but, ever the contrarian, I`m giving the palm to "In Tune" from Together for the same reas...

Bacharach/Newley collaboration

I won`t exasperate everyone again with my opinion of what an overwhelming achievement I think WOMAN is, but I`m wondering if the song Burt wrote with Anthony Newley, "Dancing Fool", was ever recorded by a singer or if the lyrics are available anywhere. Paranthetically, I think Newley recei...

tour venues

Burt`s tour itinerary is beginning to look as weird as that of Bob Dylan. Does he (Burt) plan ever again to play NYC - or even Boston? What does he have against major east coast cities?

Jackie de Shannon

Despite my churlish indifference to WTWNN I`m a huge fan of most of Jckie deShannon`s Burt & Hal recordings, particularly "Come and Get Me" which (along with the roughly contemporaneous vocal take of "Saturday Sunshine") made a pop auteurist of me. A close contender (although...

WTWNN

I always thought that Dionne was offered the song first and rejected it supposedly because it was still in its country-ish arrangement for Gene Pitney.
(Doesn`t matter to me -- I never cared for the song in any of its incarnations).

LH Soundtrack

Maybe I should have added that I, too, liked the soundtrack and still do. As a post-script--Why, if this was such an all-`round nightmare for Burt. did he go to the trouble of loading his subsequent solo album with so much of that material?

movie scores

It occurs to me that with the single exception of "Butch Cassidy..." ALL of the movies Burt scored were dreadful. The difference represented by "Lost Horizon" seems to be the year it took from his life coaching non-singing actors and supervising the "ghost" over-dubs et...

Be Aware

Burt supposedly wrote Be Aware for BS who performed it with him on one of his early `70s tv specials but for some reason never recorded it.

DW`s `72 album

I received the `72 Dionne album today and got to hear it for the first time in over thirty years. It is as I recalled it: a little subdued and more than a little padded. But it contains Be Aware, the only justification it needs - one of Burt`s most perfect achievements.
