Re: any word on "Gift of the Magi"?

Is "Some Lovers" available on a CD single by Rumer or are we gonna have to wait for the cast recording? I would like to find a copy of her Christmas CD which also features the great song "Alfie". As always, anticipation gets to me when I hear about anything new from the Maestro.

Re: Baby It's You

Hi BachtoBacharach, Thank you so much for filling in the blanks for me! Indeed I remember her (Inga) and can visualize her sitting behind that desk (to the right as one entered the door). She was ever so gracious that afternoon, I can honestly remember that it was Tuesday, August 16, 1966 at 1:30p.m...

Re: Baby It's You

There has been a lawsuit filed in New York State's Supreme Court against the producers of the Broadway production "Baby It's You" because the names and likeness of the plaintiffs in the case were used without permission. Plaintiffs in the case are Dionne Warwick, Chuck Jackson, and three o...

Re: Dionne's new album of Sammy Cahn songs released next month

I agree with you both, BachtoBacharach and gillanddon that a new album of RECENT Bacharach compositions such as "Every Other Hour", "Falling Out Of Love", "Count On Me", "Love Is (Still) The Answer", "Paint It Blue", and "Pennies In A Jar" ...

Re: Sax solo on "The Look of Love"

Welcome aboard, Quadophile! For earlier discussions on this topic, please refer to page 21, entry 7 of this Forum and there's quite a bit of info regarding your inquiry. I fell in love with both versions of this song and that sax player really brought it on home for me, ESPECIALLY his glissando at t...

Re: Hang Your Teardrops Up To Dry

I have the CD "Love Talk" that this is from. There's also another song "I Just Don't Know What To Do" which appears on that CD which was written by the Maestro. I don't remember the lyricist's name but it too is a great song!

Re: other artists we all seem to like

I too am a huge fan of Pat Matheney. One of my favorites is "Offramp". He is truly innovative, especially his timing. I also like his recording/engineering techniques which for the most part is in the digital domain (Spar Code DDD). IMHO digitally recorded material has a higher degree of b...

Re: Dionne's new album of Sammy Cahn songs released next month

I can't wait! Anything new by Dionne will be just what the doctor ordered! I have a CD by Davis Gaines entitled "All My Tomorrows-The Songs of Sammy Cahn". It was digitally recorded, mixed, and mastered (DDD), just the way I prefer recorded music. The playlist is something I won't include ...

A couple of my favorites are by Jamie Anders entitled "We Should Have Met Sooner" and "When You Bring Your Sweet Love To Me". I wish he and Burt would team up again!

Re: Help with the name of a song?

I really enjoyed reading the posts referring to "The Beginning Of Loneliness" as that too was one of my favorite BB/HD/DW songs. I feel that Hal's lyrics were especially expressive! My question is: Is there a way to obtain Marc Anthony Lee's "Journey through Dionne's Discography"...

Re: Promises, Promises

I agree with EVERY word in your post about the addition of the two (2) songs to the new production of Promises, Promises. And you stated that it is an insult to both Burt and Hal, I also feel that it is a greater insult to the theater-goers. Although I didn't get a chance to see the original product...

Lou Johnson's Big Top Recordings

I purchased the recently-released Lou Johnson's CD entitled "Incomparable Soul Vocalist--Big Top Recordings" this past Monday and I must say it lives up to its title! There are a total of 25 songs on this compilation collection, 7 of which were composed by the Maestro with lyrics by none o...

Re: Discussion Board is STale

In reference to GehVorbei's post about Dionne's original version of "On My Own", what other songs that you know of are still in the vaults and what is the likelihood of their release? As I mentioned in a much earlier post, I would really like to see a compilation of Dionne's lesser-known s...

Re: Dionne's New Single

I didn't know that this was in the works--I hadn't read anything about it until just a few minutes ago and the article referred the readers to Amazon.com to purchase/listen to it so I heard a small snippet of it and I must say that Dionne's voice sounds better than ever--complete with high-register ...
