Sneak preview...

I've spent the last few days transferring the current site's content to run on the Word Press blogging platform. I'm hoping this will make it easier for me to update news in a timely manner and it will also have the added bonus of letting people comment on news posting as well as add their own news....

Re: Buried bits of Burt

Both Pizzicato Five and Yo La Tengo sampled the fuzz guitar part from After The Fox's "Bird Bath" (or that other song on After The Fox that uses the fuzz guitar; I can never remember which one's which). And I think I read that Pizzicato Five used the timpani from "Another Night" ...

Re: The Burt Bacharach Forum has upgraded to phpBB3

Trendy? Ha ha. I don't know about that. I think it's more about my not knowing how to change the default style than it is about trendiness... Again, I really appreciate everybody's patience. I tend to just sort of let the site run by itself for long periods and then something happens that forces me ...

Re: BB Appreciation on CP

Unless this article gets picked up by the Drudge Report, I don't think we'll see much of a reaction from the far right...

The Burt Bacharach Forum has upgraded to phpBB3

In case you didn't realize it, the server that bacharachonline.com was hosted on was hacked over the last couple of weeks. While hackers typically just put up a new index to mark their accomplishment, it looks like they also may have used my email account to spam the world. Just for the record, the ...

Unless the website is out of date, I think the Something Big collection is still available via Hip-O Select for around $90. I know that's a lot, but at least it's less than $130. Check out the link below: http://www.hip-oselect.com/scr.public.product.asp?product_id=ba85d60d-e6bb-5ff6-1d6e-37136a254754

I'm sure others have opinions, but I think the best single-disc Bacharach solo collection is What the World Needs Now: Bacharach Classics. It's a great collection. If that doesn't have what you want, you can try buying the individual CDs, although the later releases might only be available as pricey...

New orchestral composition and new live CD

I just posted this news on the homepage, but since a lot of you don't visit there as often as you do here, I thought I should mention it. Burt Bacharach announced at a news conference in Melbourne today that he's written a new orchestral composition for the Sydney Symphony inspired by his tour last ...

Merry Christmas to you too, Gabba, and everyone who visits this forum. I realize I've been kind of quiet lately, but I'm happy to say we've put into place a phpBB modification to prevent the proliferation of spam that has plagued the board in recent weeks, so hopefully we won't have that problem (ve...

A couple of years ago in response to this issue, a British fan sent me a copy he had obtained of Burt's birth certificate which showed his birth year as 1928. I'm pretty satisfied that's the correct year.

I'm a big Command Records fan. There were quite a few Bacharach-David recordings by Command's stable of artists in the '60s. I've got a Tony Mottola LP with, I think, "Do You Know the Way to San Jose" and "This Guy's In Love With You." Great stuff. As for this song, it's a great ...

Thanks for the review, Andre. Every time I miss a concert, I worry whether I'm missing one of my last chances to see Burt live. It's great to hear he's still going strong. It's also nice to hear he's continuing to revise his set list. I'm sure a lot of us have seen his basic show with its series of ...

Registration problems? Email me...

There appears to be a problem with the board's user authentication system. I've received several reports from new users registering for the board that they did not receive the email verification message necessary to complete their registrations. I tried turning off the user authentication feature fo...
