Re: Pianist on Bacharach's recordings

Hey-

Whilst on the subject of Aretha's 'best'-i.e., subtlest recordings-i have truly come to love her song-speak style on 'Daydreamin''. her storytelling phrasing is worthy of either dionne or Sinatra, I think!

Best,

Re: Put Your Youtube.com Links Here! (if you want)

Not to mention his undeniable humility. He could be such a beautiful role model for the one-hit 'artists' who now populate the musical landscape.

Though I doubt they'd listen...

His loss diminishes us all, just a little bit. Like BB/HD, his music was such an important part of my growing up. RIP.

I second that, Gillanddon! Only sorry that Hal David could not be there for the honor.

And truer words were never spoken regarding Dionne's ability to make very challenging material sound easy!

Yes, to echo what all of you had said, it is ABOUT TIME!!

And I do believe, if/when Burt & Hal are finally gifted with a Kennedy Center tribute, it should include Dionne. She is as much a part of their creative process as anyone!

Re: Hal David....red alert

I totally agree, enormous! Hal David may be one of the most quiet & unassuming show business talents EVER. And in today's exhibitionistic atmosphere, where every wheeze & cough from every Reality Show 'Star' virtually stops the media, it is downright admirable! And, I'm afraid that my initia...

Re: Hal David....red alert

My thoughts exactly, blue. It's important, sometimes, to remember that the people we admire are human beings first: with families, human concerns, etc. As much as we often see them as receptacles for our memories, joys, sorrows, etc., they exist in a much deeper way than simply how we remember, or p...
