Re: Burt & the SSO: Aust/NZ CD Release - Extra tracks

You are most welcome.

And what great timing for the delivery - with the CD arriving just in time for the maestro's birthday!

Re: Burt & the SSO: Aust/NZ CD Release - Extra tracks

Dave, I have noticed this also on the CD. But there is only one version of 'For the Children'. The piece runs for almost 11 minutes. The split that should occur between tracks 11 (A House is Not a Home) and 12 (For the Children), to enable selection of track 12, seems to have been mistakenly placed ...

Burt & the SSO: Aust/NZ CD Release - Extra tracks

This weekend I purchased a locally-released version of Burt's live CD recorded at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony last year. It is released by Liberator Music. I had already obtained the Verve CD from QVC last year (with the bonus CD) but this release has the following tracks that ar...

Re: Dionne Warwick Interview with David Nathan Online

Thanks for posting this interview link. It's fascinating to hear Dionne talk about lesser known tunes like "How Many Days of Sadness", "Looking with My Eyes" and "Be Aware". The latter two are favourites of mine but I'd never heard Dionne talk about them until this inte...

YouTube End Sample of Bacharach Tune

Does anyone know what Bacharach composition the ending on this Youtube sample (see link below) is from? I can't recall having heard it before - it sounds like it might be from a movie piece. Whatever it is, like a lot of endings to Burt's tunes, it's very sublime! Martyn http://au.youtube.com/watch?...

This is Weird

I'm not sure what's going on. About three hours ago I was able to order the CD set and I'm almost certain I used the link Mark provided above. Yet when I tried it a few moments ago, out of curiosity, I got the 'sold out' message again. All I can suggest is to keep trying the link or perhaps try to a...

QVC CD Sold Out!

Having asked a favour from a good friend in the USA to post my QVC order of the CD set, it seems that the product has already sold out!! Burt's appearance must have done the trick! Accessing the link in Mark's post takes you to a page which reads, "We are sorry but this product is sold out"...

The vocal on 'God Give Me Strength' was sung by John Pagano.

Re: Burt's Live CD...At Last!

Steve, As I recall there were a couple of minor changes to the playlist when Burt returned to Australia in Jan/Feb this year. 'Where Did it Go' was dropped and I'm fairly certain 'Go Ask Shakespeare' was not performed either. The new instrumental 'For the Children' was played immediately following '...

Walk the Way You Talk

The first version of 'Walk the Way You Talk' that I heard was by Sergio Mendes and Brazil '77. It's my favourite version, though I have not heard Dionne's.

The track appears on their 1973 album titled 'Love Songs' which is available on CD.

Australian Review: Burt on a High

The following review of Burt's recent concerts in Melbourne is taken from the city's 'Herald Sun' newspaper, dated 9 February 2008: "Burt Bacharach, one of the great songwriters of the 20th century has been in Melbourne performing his hit songs with a trio of his own first-rate singers, his tal...

Burt's New Composition

This is very exciting news. I was very fortunate to hear the new piece, 'For the Children' which had its world premiere on 4 Jan in Honolulu. I was on holiday in Hawaii (timed of course to coicide with Burt's shows!) and was lucky to get front row seats at that first show. Burt had only completed th...

Who's Gone Away??/Freefall

Does anyone know if the 'she' in 'She's Gone Away' (late 60s instrumental) refers to anyone in particular? Or is it perhaps a non-specific reference to the break up of a romance? And can anyone confirm if the 1970 instrumental piece 'Freefall' is inspired by the sport of skydiving? I thought it migh...
