Burt's political views

This is not the first time Burt has taken a political stance in his music... I think "I Say A Little Prayer", "Windows Of The World", "What The World Needs Now (Is Love), "Everybody's Out Of Town", "In The Land Of Make-Believe", "Be Aware", &quo...

Dionne is a great vocal inspiration

It's so surprising that the Devadip should make this quote. It's what I've also been saying for years. I tell people-- honestly-- that it was Dionne who taught me how to sing. Though I'm a guy, and a tenor, I have nonetheless appropriated (consciously and unconsciously) much of her vocal style over ...

Alison Moyet's new album

Alison Moyet is one of Britain's greatest femme singers, and "God Give Me Strength" will rank as one of BB's masterpieces. Can't wait to hear this album. All the other cuts on this album are exceptionally choice as well 8) -- this album has "success" written all over it.

Royalties

It's a fair question. To know a ballpark figure, anyway. I think it's really neat when a songwriter suddenly finds himself getting new royalties for a song he/she wrote MANY years ago. That must be very gratifying on so many levels. e.g., Carole King getting royalties when Kylie Minogue does a remak...

Suggestions for a proposed new BB/DW record...

I LOVE "Be True To Yourself".... it's brilliant.... but isn't it (the lyric) a little bit "teenaged" for Dionne to sing at this autumnal point? I also second "So Long, Johnny" and "Come And Get Me". Also "A Lifetime Of Loneliness" is a great song. I ...

Hasbrook Heights chords here...

HASBROOK HEIGHTS (tempo: andantino, eighths have swing feel; Key: F Major) There are basically three sections to this song; the basic chords are outlined below. I'll rely on your ear & musicianship to plug these chords in with the proper rhythms, OK? [If you ever get out....] F - - -/- - D7b9 -/...

Burt and tennis

I remember how, in the 60's, when Burt was closer to the Kennedy clan, he and Ethel would often play tennis together.

re: religious epiphany

I have religious epiphanies listening to BB on my boombox!! During, say, the instrumental breaks on "Long Ago Tomorrow", "Promises, Promises", or "The World Is A Circle", I am just flying with euphoria! How many times have I heard Jackie De Shannon's WTWNNIL... yet the ...

A BB/HD in 1965's movie, DARLING ?

Recently, I saw the great 1965 British film DARLING, for which newcomer Julie Christie received a Best Actress Academy Award. It's a very funny & deft portrait of mid-60's "Swinging London". Anyway, there is one scene near the middle, where Christie goes to Paris on a modelling gig. In...

Also, one hopes that Chenoweth is working hard on her Irish and English spoken accents... bugger those up, and all will be for naught.

re: DUSTY movie in pre-production

Am I right in remembering that, when Dusty died, she bequeathed her full estate to two entities: Vicki Wickham... and her pet cat?? No joke. P.S. I only wish that Burt were signed on with this upcoming movie to do all the orchestral arrangements. Now THAT would make a swell soundtrack CD. My guess i...
