Re: Rainbow Room DVD

Hi Vincent, I'm fine but for the past year I've been up from 'Down Under' in the Middle East (UAE) so I can only hope that Burt decides to race one of his horses in the next Dubai Cup. Then he'd come over and might be persuaded to do a gig as well. The Burj Khalifa would be a good venue. It's quite ...

Rainbow Room DVD

Burt and Dionne's New Years Eve 1996 performance at the Rainbow Room, originally broadcast by AMC (US cable channel), is now available on DVD. Probably the only available full-length concert featuring Burt and Dionne together. The set list is the same as that of the TV special, however, the DVD omit...

Re: Ronan Keating in the Studio with Burt

Thanks so much for posting this link MissyK.

It's very interesting to hear, first hand, what an accomplished singer experiences as he records the music of a living legend, in the presence of the living legend!

The documentary should be fascinating!

Re: Burt's unique use of background vocals

Steve, Interesting that you state the background vocalists were credited on the 'Make it Easy on Yourself' album. I haven't seen background vocalists credited on any of Burt's solo albums prior to 'Futures'. Only feature vocalists like Cissy Houston and Tony Middleton. A couple of times I have asked...

Re: Reach out album 1967

Thanks Steveo, I do have a copy of that concert. Haven't seen it in a while so I'll take another look when I get the chance. It would have been nice if a documentary could have been made, along the lines of the Classic Albums (eg Steely Dan's 'Aja' & Stevie Wonder's 'Songs in the Key of Life' - ...

Re: Reach out album 1967

Dominic Spera is mentioned on the 'Really Good Music' site as having played first trumpet for Burt from 1966 to 1974. But that might only have been for live performances. There's no specific mention of recording session work.

Re: Reach out album 1967

I've always wondered who the female vocalist was on the title track to this album. She's the one who sings: "don't you worry......", "you just have to.........", and "I'll be there and........" etc. In fact it would be nice to know who all the session vocalists were but...

Re: Reach out album 1967

This is a very difficult task that you've set yourself. The problem being that Burt's early A&M album liner notes say little or nothing about the identity of the session musicians or backing vocalists. There are some very knowledgeable people who contribute posts to this forum, so they may read ...

Re: Another great song that sounds like Bacharach

A couple of contemporary instrumental pieces appear to have a Bacharach influence. I hasten to add this is according to my own ears. Others might wonder what planet I'm on. But if you click on this link: http://www.tradebit.com/filesharing.php/search/40/scherzando and scroll down to "...

The Bell that Couldn't Jingle

What a charming song this is! Having listened to it in the last few days I find myself humming the tune to myself all the time. It's very catchy. And timeless. I didn't know it existed until I discovered an A&M festive compilation LP in the early 90s at a community volunteer radio station. The c...

Burt Returning to Australia in 2010

Great News!! Looks like Burt is coming back to Australia next year to do a series of concerts in late February/early March. I'm aware of concerts scheduled for Perth, Melbourne and Sydney with their respective symphony orchestras. Other cities may also be on the schedule. Mark will probably get the ...

Re: Burt live on DVD

Yes, this is a very good recording and, TV guest artists aside, is very close to the set list performed at his concerts from early 2008. Which brings me to another unofficial DVD that, to my mind mind, should have been commercially released years ago: "Burt Bacharach & Dionne Warwick at the...
