warbachdavid, I'm not saying a "progressive" Bacharach record would have no commercial appeal at all, but I think record labels can cut certain performers more slack than others. There are certainly lots of jazz artists who sell fewer records than OutKast, yet they're still considered succ...

I don't have any new information, but I remember talking to Rob Shrock, Burt's keyboardist and musical director, back in May. Rob said he was excited about the prospect of working with Burt on a new, original record with the band. Burt has been writing all along, Rob said, but simply hasn't had the ...

Thanks, Tom. I think the problem is you need to register with a username and sign in to be able to participate in polls. Once you register you can also start your own polls. This poll is kind of screwed up, though, because Painted From Memory is listed twice and I can't for the life of me figure out...

What should be included in a Bacharach FAQ?

I'm sure a lot of people have been tricked into thinking the FAQ link at the top is Frequently Asked Questions about Burt, as opposed to questions about the operation of the board. I've been wanting to post a FAQ about Burt for a few years but up until now I've been too busy (or lazy) to get it done...

Bacharach on TV

Sorry I dropped the ball about reporting the re-airing last night of McCormick Presents Burt Bacharach: Tribute on Ice. Whoops. I had no idea it had aired until I started getting emails asking about its availability on video or DVD. Maybe it's just because TV (and ice skating) reaches an entirely di...

I wish I'd known sooner, but McCormick Presents Burt Bacharach: Tribute on Ice aired tonight on ESPN2. A quick search of their Website didn't turn up any reairings, but the search function is awful and these sorts of programs usually get multiple airings, so I'll keep looking.

On the other board, where you posted this same message, you mention that you got these links through your internship at Universal. I don't mind people promoting things on the board if it's related, however tangentially, to Burt, but please be up front about it...

I wonder if enough time has passed for Burt and Hal to discuss "Lost Horizon" on a commentary track objectively and with a sense of humor? We've heard snippets in interviews about the difficulty of working with non-singers (although only Sally Kellerman, James Sigheta and Bobby Van provide...

After the special's airing, Burt's publicist said there were no plans to rebroadcast "McCormick Presents Burt Bacharach: Tribute on Ice" or to release it on video or DVD. That could change, however, but right now there's nothing in the works.

Site update

I've (finally) updated the main images page with captions, so the pictures are slightly less mystifying. Unfortunately, over time I've lost the names of some of the people in the photos and the names of some of the contributors, so if you have any info regarding subjects or submitters, please let me...

Thanks and congratulations are hardly called for, but I appreciate the kind words. I still think phpBB offers more bells and whistles than necessary, especially when you're on a dialup (am I the only one who hates having to wait for all those silly Emoticons to load?), but it's clearly an improvemen...

New tours dates in Italy announced!

Hot off the press is Burt's updated tour itinerary! In addition to newly announced dates in San Antonio and Charlotte, N.C., there are three concerts in Italy, which I'm sure will be music to the ears of Bob, Davide and Burt's many other Italian fans. Congratulazioni! 2004 March 10 Mt. Pleasant, MI ...

Bacharach (sheet music) obscurities on eBay

I recently purchased on eBay a Bacharach-David sheet music anthology that I hadn't previously come across. It's undated but appears to be from the early '70s and features a number of relatively obscure Bacharach-David compositions: Accept It (the B-side of Tony Orlando's "To Wait for Love"...
