Re: These songs, and more, need more exposure.

Thank you vincent, steve and hank for your interesting feedback and for identifying with my frustration. Thinking about it I used to be just as frustrated in the mid sixties when I thought all the songs I mentioned, and more, should have been big hit singles ... I too generally find radio playlists v...

These songs, and more, need more exposure.

How can we get these fabulous Burt Bacharach, Hal David and Dionne Warwick songs back into main stream public conscience? Not just the major hits buts songs such as .. 'This Empty Place', 'Reach Out For Me', 'Message To Michael', 'Another Night', 'Who Is Gonna Love Me', 'Promises Promises', 'The Apr...

Re: Dionne Warwick and Rob Shrock playing at Blue Note 6/02/11

I'm amazed that Dionne's smoking hasn't had a worse effect on her voice. I'm begining to see her in a certain class like Louis Armstrong etc The worse the smoke filled voice gets it the better it sounds!! Think of Billie Holiday .. altho' I don't think she pushed herself vocally as much as Dionne. V...

Re: Dionne Warwick and Rob Shrock playing at Blue Note 6/02/11

Hi BBfan yes I also LOVE the concerts .. Dionne holds the audience right thru' to those fabulous Latin American numbers and an up beat San Jose etc with her brilliant band and I think the smaller venues work so well. I hear what you are saying BtoB and it is sad the passing of Dionne's original .. s...

Re: Dionne Warwick and Rob Shrock playing at Blue Note 6/02/11

I recently saw Dionne live in concert and it was amazing. Sure, her vocal range, which was extraordinary in it's Burt Bacharach/Hal |David days, wasn't there but her voice has matured into lovely smokey tones which I like .. I have to say, I almost prefer. Her voice on her new CD is one of the most ...

Burt, Hal and Dionne!

A real treat tonight in three programmes on BBC4 here in the UK. 'The Joy of Easy Listening' and 'Easy Listening Hits At The BBC' and best of all, 'Burt Bacharach - This Is Now'. It never rains but it pours ... brilliant to watch on a Friday night of a Bank Holiday weekend with a glass of something ...

Re: Where Was Ms. Warwick??

There was a fantastic documentary on Burt tonight on BBC4 here inthe UK. Great scenes of him in concert with Dionne and later Burt so enjoying playing for Adele. Fantastic! Also isn't great to see Dionne so quickly in Tokyo after having to postpone the concerts after the catastrophe there?

Re: Where Was Ms. Warwick??

That's true maestrofan I remember an interview with Burt when he was asked why Dioone had done Psychic Network and he replied 'we all have our bills to pay' or words to that effect. Dionne is also an extremely busy lady with her concerts and involvement in many causes etc and also very involved with...

Re: Where Was Ms. Warwick??

Dear maestrofan .. this surely is not the place to deliver another attack on Dionne Warwick. In my opinion she behaved in quite a dignified manner on Celebrity Apprentice and not in the 'ill mannered boorish way' you describe. She stated her case in what I thought was a fairly mild way. got voted ou...

Re: Burt's Italian tourneè

Hello Ron. Yes all positive for Burt which is super but why does Dionne get so much stick? She's fabulous and have you heard her new Sammy Kahn CD. Marvellous! Brave new material brilliantly done. All successful women singers seem at some stage to get dished the dirt where as men seem to sail throug...

Re: Ronan Keating in the Studio with Burt

One thing for sure. I LOVE that CD. 'Little Red Book' perfect for Ronan and I think he is the first since Dionne to get remotely close to 'Walk On By' which is a major achievement and 'The Look of Love' since Dusty and despite reservations in the press,I think he is great on Arthur's Theme! But I lo...
