Re: Another great song that sounds like Bacharach

Dennis, the Richard Harris album title was 'My Boy'. Another artist to record 'This is Where I Came In' was Thelma Houston in 1969 on her 'Sunshower' album, which was written, arranged and produced by Jimmy Webb. A long-time favorite of Webb fans, the album also included 'Everybody Gets to go to the...

Another great song that sounds like Bacharach

Re 'This is Where I Came In'. There was an excellent thread set-up on this site a little while back concerning songs written by others that sounded like they could have been written by Bacharach - 'Where are you now my Love?' by Jackie Trent and Tony Hatch, 'Girl don't Come', written by Chris Andrew...

Re: Burt in London

Beth Rowley is obviously a very talented lady as I see she's scheduled to be in two places at once on the evening of October 22nd, London's Roundhouse for the Bacharach concert and St George's in Bristol for a solo gig. Maybe they'll ask Amy Winehouse to take her place at the Roundhouse!

Re: Burt's Live CD...At Last!

Yes, I could have done without the 'At this Time' selctions to make way for the new piece 'For the Children'.

Re: Burt in London

With Jamie Cullam and Adele featured as guest vocalists I'm not surprised the concert sold out in a matter of hours. As the concert is part of the BBC's 'Electric Proms' series I assume it will either be televised or recorded for radio broadcast at some later date. Apart from his appearence on Jools...

Re: CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK

In the late 90s two of Jimmy Webb's sons formed a band called the Webb Brothers and have released a number of albums. The little I've heard of their music displays very little of their father's influence. I've heard it variously described in the music press as 'Indie' and 'Stoner Rock', what ever th...

Yes it has been posted before but it doesn't matter. The kids were from the Corona Stage Academy, a drama school for children in London. Look closely and you'll see a young Nicholas Lyndhurst, future star of many a British sitcom.

Re: Burt in London

The idea of Burt Bacharach playing either that toilet otherwise known as the 100 Club in Oxford Street or that glorified foyer referred to as the Jazz Cafe in Camden would fill me with dimay if it was going to happen. It wont as there's no chance of BB ever lowering himself to play in such holes. Tr...

Re: Always Something There - Ace compilation

Two of the tracks, 'Third Window from the Right' by Dean Barlow and 'Move it on the Backbeat' by Burt and the Backbeats, were played on last Saturday's 'Sounds of the 60s' on BBC Radio 2. I'm still getting a lot of pleasure listening to this compilation and it doesn't matter how untypical many of th...

'From this Moment On' was actually released in September 2006, so it's positively ancient.

Calm down. 'From this Moment On' was released last year so can hardly be described as her 'new' cd.

I love Laura Nyro's version, a rare example of one great songwriter covering another.

Re: 4 CD box-set of new versions of BB songs

One of the vocalists I forgot to mention before is Carla Jones and her rendition of 'The Wine is Young' is one of the highlights of the set. She also does a lovely job on 'Dream Sweet Dreamer'. Mention should also be made of Saskia who, vocally at least, bares a remarkable resemblance to the Brazili...

4 CD box-set of new versions of BB songs

Ever despaired that you'd never hear another version of the likes of 'Here Where There Is Love', 'The Wine is Young', 'Forever my Love', 'Mexican Divorce', 'To Wait for Love', 'Long after Tonight is all Over', 'My Little Red Book', 'Are You There', 'Dream Sweet Dreamer', 'Whoever You are, I Love You...
