Buffalo

I saw Burt perform for the first time last night in Buffalo. Since I suspect I`m the only one on this forum not to have seen him 70 or 80 times before, I won`t go through the set list which< in any event, probably hasn`t changed greatly in years. The Kleinshal is a beautiful venue and it must have b...

ATT Review

An odd and mixed review of the new album (and Burt himself) by the avowedly right-wing J. R. Taylor appears in the latest issue of the (not avowedly right-wing) New York Press. It can be accessed on line at nypress.com under the title, Pretending to Pray.

On the Flip Side

Despite (relatively) recent information that Amazon et alia could provide a copy of this album, my order has gone unfilled and ultimately cancelled everywhere. If anyone has had better luck, I`d appreciate hearing about it. Thanks.

lighting anomalies

What a great observation! It`s (now) obviously a composite photo with the camera lights casting the facial shadows. It`s probably too late to change the cover now, but I`ll chuckle every time I look at it from now on. If Vermeer could see this, he`d be groaning in his grave.

rare songs

Thanks very much; these are both beautiful songs! Who does the vocal on the Webb track? It almost, but not quite, sounds like Glen Campbell.

Burt`s politics

I`ve stayed away from this topic until now, thinking it would fade away. But, at this time, I might as well declare myself. I`m a baby-boomer and a life-long Lefty who has seen most of the positions I have espoused proven to be justified. Viet Nam was a criminal disaster, Nixon was a crook, Reaganom...

pre-order

If anyone here spied on the Jimmy Webb site during last fall`s re-issue of his 70s albums, you know that the issuing label (in that case Rhino) screwed up badly. I don`t want to suggest that Sony/Columbia will perform as abysmally in this instance; but, of all on-line outlets, CD Universe came throu...

Burt`s vocals

Burt`s vocals are few and scattered across his A&M albums compiled on the recent (and expensive) Something Big collection. Alas, there`s no single disc that contains them.

Mark, I`m sincerely relieved to know that you and yours are safe. Up here in the northeast (and recently back from NYC), I can only imagine the reality of what you`re all facing. I know I speak for all of us regulars at the site in wishing you and all afflicted by this tragedy the speediest possible...

Unless it appears on the Austin Powers ST (which I`ve never heard), there is no such recording that I`m aware of.

Buffalo

I guess I should have made it clearer in the body of my post that the unfamiliar city (to me) is Buffalo, NY.

Buffalo ?!

Old man that I am, I`m about to see Burt for the first time in a city I`ve never been to. Does anyone know how far from the airport the Kleinhans Music Hall is or have any other tips for a traveller from the northeast? I realise this forum is no substitute for a travel agency but I thought I`d throw...
