Re: New Songs for "PAINTED FROM MEMORY"

The way a person gets his music is simply a matter of preference. I for one prefer CD's. I have a huge, eclectic collection—from Bach to Bacharach, Strait to Streisand to Snoop, Haggerd to Hendrix, and everyone in between. Music is my next to first love, FOOD being my first. I purchase old and new C...

Re: Dionne recording Hal's final song with Melissa Mancheste

Thanks Downtown for sharing the info and pic! I just want to mention that the co-producer Terry Wollman is an exceptional guitarist/musician as well. I bought one of his CD's years ago titled "Say Yes" which features sterling performances by Michael McDonald ("Our Love") and Joe Sample on keyboards....

Re: We Need to Go Back

Every time I listen to it is like listening to encore after encore. There are a number of rarities that I wish would be released that aren't familiar but warrent hearing. There's "Love's Hiding Place" from the movie "The Seduction" which stars Morgan Fairchild, the theme from "The Rich and Famous", ...

"Together?": Domestic release, finally!

On February 04, 2014 Real Gone Records (Dionne's "We Need To Go Back", "Complete Warner Bros. Singles) will re-issue this outstanding OST for the first time Stateside. Also, they have re-issued B. J. Thomas' "Scepter Singles", a comprehensive collection of 44 songs, of which 11 are previously unrele...

Re: Reconsidering an old topic

Blair, What a great idea! That particular track caught my ear the very first time I heard it. Did not know that about Miles. My pick for "Lisa" would be the one and only Mark Isham. I can picture him in the studio with Burt doing not only that one but others as well.

Thanks for the heads up! I won't plan ANYTHING but that for January. Didn't know it is only a 4 hour drive from here as everytime I've gone to KC I've flown. Looking forward to your updates.

Re: Jimmy Webb/Rumer's New Duet

Congratulations to Jimmy on his induction into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame this past Tuesday night here in Tulsa. The ceremony was held at the Mabee Center to a SRO audience. This past Sunday he performed two (2) concerts at the Blue Door in OKC to rave reviews. I read the review which appeared ...

Jimmy Webb/Rumer's New Duet

Just viewed a segment from CBS's Saturday Morning Show's "Second Cup Café" which featured Jimmy Webb and Rumer performing the title track ""Still Within The Reach Of My Voice". This soon-to-be-released CD is a duets project that if this morning's performance is any indication of the depth of this pr...

Re: I HAVE A DREAM - 50th anniversary today

Thanks hereiam for honoring this historic event via Tom Clay's memorable video. I was there 50 years ago at the age of 13 and arrived on one of two "Freedom Busses" that we boarded in the parking lot of Douglass High School in OKC. Just prior to Dr. King's speech, I got separated from my group and w...

I knew everyone had trouble accessing the Forum simply by looking at the number of "replies" and "views": they both read "0" since August 14, 2013. Just glad we're back up and running 'cause I visit daily!

Re: Extended Versions of Bacharach/David/Warwick Songs?

Grooverider: There's only one Kim Weston song on the CD: "It's Too Soon To Know" written by Deborah Chessler, the 1947 debut hit for the Orioles. Pat Boone had a hit with it in 1958. This was Kim's first jazz session with Mickey Stevenson and was recorded in New York. Kim happens to be one of my fav...

Re: Extended Versions of Bacharach/David/Warwick Songs?

Thanks grooverider for sharing that! I too am a huge fan of extended versions, remixes, rarities, alternate takes, and outtakes. I have quite a collection of CD's that include these type of recordings i.e. extended versions of Hall & Oates' "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)", Aretha's "Rock Steady", ...

Re: "After All"

Ron: Yet ANOTHER little-known duet by Dionne and Blue System's Dieter Bohlen entitled "It's All Over" was recorded in Los Angeles in the summer of 1991. It was released in November of that year. This happens to be my all-time favorite duet of hers because again the production is top notch and her pi...

Forgot to mention that the Anka/Warwick duet "You And I" appears on YouTube--just type in Paul Anka/Dionne Warwick and you're in for a real treat--top notch production!

Re: "After All"

Ron, there's a duet between Paul and Dionne entitled "You And I" from his Polydor Import album "Somebody Loves You" circa 1995 that's simply dazzling! I don't remember who composed it but it sounds strikingly remeniscent of Burt's style. I have tried to find it but to no avail. They also duet on Bre...
