Burt Bacharach and Tonio K Demos

I didn't get a copy of this when it was available. Is there any way to get one now?

Re: On the Flip Side

I wonder if this TV production exists somewhere. Someone has to have it. That would be interesting to see.

Re: Two songs written by BURT

If I heard "What's In Goodbye" on the radio, I would recognize it immediately as Bacharach. If it turned out to be somebody else, I would find everything written by that songwriter.

Re: Very nice Roger Nichols & Friends track

Why is this not available for download? I understand that the Japanese market is much more open to music of this type, but there would be no distribution costs. Is it to make us pay top dollar?

Re: most beautiful haunting melodies you ever heard?

The most haunting melody I've ever heard? So many, but this one comes to mind.

Re: Best lyricists of all time?

I was actually going to begin my post with that song because that's how I discovered him but I didn't know your tastes well enough to risk it. Some people would call it cheap pop candy but it's really a beautiful song.

Re: Best lyricists of all time?

Blair, Rupert Holmes' solo career was marred by a few shortcomings. He's doesn't have a great voice, although he interprets his songs with lots of emotion. Secondly, he doesn't have a unique "sound" which was a requirement for stardom in the 70's. His songs are pop, but a little too much f...

Re: Best lyricists of all time?

Blair, I think you would really like Rupert Holmes' songs. He has more in common with the pre-rock era songwriters. His albums, except for Widescreen are hard to find but you can hear a lot on YouTube. His musical, The Mystery of Edwin Drood is marvelous too.

Re: Best lyricists of all time?

Seriously! "The first time we heard 'Widescreen', our ears snapped to attention. Rupert Holmes is an original: a unique songwriter (his songs are like one-act plays), a wonderful orchestrator, a writer of Broadway Musicals (who won three Tonys for his Mystery of Edwin Drood), a novelist whose f...

Re: most beautiful haunting melodies you ever heard?

I have nothing against the talent of Mariah Carey as a singer. I am sure she is probably one of the best of all time. She started a trend in pop music where the vocalist embellished the melody so much that the melody became lost. Whitney Houston did not do that at first. Her early hits were sung ver...

Re: most beautiful haunting melodies you ever heard?

While I strongly disagree with Blair's assessment of the Beatles and Brian Wilson in previous posts, I have to say I agree wholeheartedly with Blair on this one, and not because I'm old. These songs, like most songs today, have little direction. The "chord progressions" do not progress. Th...

Re: Songwriter only concert tours

I wish you would get started on Mr. Zimmerman. I don't know Dylan's music at all (ok, I know "Tamborine Man"). I think he probably couldn't figure out the chords to a Bacharach song if his life depended on it. He's not a serious musician in the way that Bacharach is. I always assumed, thou...

I have never been able to write lyrics for this song. So no title. Any lyricists out there? Lyrics welcome.
